I should think there are many people with this problem ( that don't have OC ) but I am not sure whether they would then be on this site... as not having OC ...they tend not to then come on here...best wishes love x G x

I wish doctors wouldn't do this, I was told that my ovarian cyst was 90% chance of being a simple cyst there was nothing to support it being cancer, and I believed them, the shock was far greater that there were cancerous cells found on the biopsy than if they had just said, we will know more after your operation and we can discuss it then.

It sounds like you have a urine infection so possibly not related to your enlarged ovary, still worth a visit to the GP or a call to the consultants secretary.

Hi - I wish you well with your op - and that it does indeed turn out to be benign. I had a debilitating continuous cough for 6 months prior to surgery, which was initially thought to be whooping cough (I had the treatment for this but it did nothing), then a chest specialist thought it might be a change/worsening of my asthma and prescribed a much stronger inhaler - which had no effect at all (I had a chest x-ray and an appointment with a chest specialist as I was concerned about having major surgery whilst having an unexplained chest complaint). It turned out to be neither of these things, and the cough miraculously disappeared immediately following my surgery (and removal of the mass). Non of the medics - who were excellent - had an explanation, and the only thing I can put it down to was that there was such displacement within my abdomen it led to pressure on my lungs. Obviously, I have no medical confirmation of this, but it's the only explanation that I can think of. I do think it's worth making sure you've covered all the angles prior to surgery for obvious reasons. On the day of my surgery, I was given various options re the type of anaesthesia and discussed my concern with the anaesthetist - who was extremely helpful and offered me a procedure that avoided sickness and headache following surgery and I was up and about within hours (honestly!) so it's worth exploring this with your surgeon prior to your admission. Hope this helps. Good luck with everything. x

Yes, I think it is possible that the swelling in the abdomen could push up the diaphragm on one side and cause coughing. (am retired GP, and have PPC, variant of ovarian cancer.)

Sorry, meant to add that you may well have bladder infection as well.

Thank you Eileen. I was with my gp this morning she gave me an internal and said I had alot of discharge so took a swab and she ordered an urgent chest X-ray which i got today. they phoned me back this afternoon with results thankfully clear... I am very out of breath today feel like I'm being squashed under my ribs especially when I'm standing up and I'm in quite a bit of pain near my liver aswell as my side..AlThough my tummy is distended its not tense which is good..My surgery will not be for 5 months as its routine they say its all a matter of waiting I suppose.

Have you got any fluid in your tummy - a condition called ascities? 5 months seems a long time to wait if you are in a lot of discomfort
