Should I push to be seen sooner?

Hi

3weeks ago I had a abdominal scan which showed a normal cyst on left ovary and a hydrogeneous lesion on my right ovary. I had a hysterectomy 13 weeks ago along with a prolapse repair it was not straight forward and I had to have 3 blood transfusions. I have got a collection of fluid in my abdomen but my CA 125 test was normal. I look about 9 months pregnant and my stomach seems to be getting bigger by the day. My Dr has ordered a CT scan but having phoned them today was told that they are fully booked up for the next 2 weeks and to just wait for my appointment in the post. Also apparently one of my blood tests showed too many red blood cells. Don't know what to do now should I try to push to be seen sooner (dr suggested that I will have to have a camera in bladder as have had blood in urine for quite sometime now) any commments would be helpful please.

Many thanks in advance.

I would just arrive in accident and emergency with a letter from your doctor. Some times the gps arent listened to enough by the hospital team. Is there a gynae liason nurse you can contact asap?

I can empathize with your situation, and in my opinion you have nothing to loose by trying to get in sooner, maybe they have a cancellation list? If it was me I'd want to be seen ASAP, I'm not sure it is a "must" but my instinct is when something is wrong to fix it NOW! Hang in there.

I know how worrying it is for you as I had the same problem waiting for a scan. I telephoned the ct scan department and asked for a cancellation. They explained they did not have one and I asked them to take my telephone number in case a cancellation came up. They telephoned me 4 days later to go in the following day. Its worth a try...Good luck xx

Hi

Thanks for your reply I think I will do that. My Dr should have sent referral over a week ago but when I went this week he was most apologetic and said that he had forgotten to fax it to hospital.

Thanks again and I wish you well xx

Hi. Was away so did not get a chance to look at e-mails. Some very good advice from the others, i.e. ringing the Hosp yourself, also if the swelling is painful - go directly to A&E. An elevated CA125 is only one indication of a problem so don't over fret. Hopefully it may just be retention of fluid and can easily be resolved. Between cameras up & down - what us women have to cope with, Just as well we are strong. Take care, and let us all know how you get on. xxx

Hi

Thanks but my specialist THINKS that both the areas of concern are possibly my ovaries and nothing to worry about. He said he probably won't need to see me again and that he doesn't know why my stomach is so bloated. Could be my bowels he said. All this seems very strange and so I have told him that I still want my ct scan on 11/10

He also said the blood in my water is of no concern as long as I am passing water ok.

I will keep you posted of ct results.

Thanks hope you are ok xx

Well that is good news you are right to continue with your ct scan though to put your mind thoroughly at rest, I would do the same,
