I had a knee replacement 2 and a half years ago which has been a huge success BUT, for the past wk or so I have been having a bit of pain in the new knee. It’s really worrying me altho I’m trying to see it as a blip which will get better. I see my rheumatologist in 2 wks so I shall talk to her about it.
Anyone had a similar experience?

Hi Sjhoney, I had a TKR 4/5 years ago and I still get the occasional pain which can last several days. Mainly after I have asked quite a lot of the joints. Long walks, weeding on my knees etc. Usually it get better with a few days of being a bit careful. I put it down to inflammation, so yes, mention it to rheumy. I hope it will just be the occasional pain for you.
Hello Sjhoney, I had a TKR around eighteen months ago , I still get pain in my leg under the knee and occassional twinges in the knee its self , I've been told my pain will remain and all they can do is give injections or physio I am having physio starting this week but its only by phone. I've been advised to report it to my GP. Hopefully yours will get better given time and do tell your Rheumatologist as sometimes a simple exercise can help . Take care.
Hiya,I had a TKR 3.5 years ago & whilst it’s so much better & stronger than its ever been, I’ve noticed that if I overdo things, or whenever I get an RA flare, I get pain in the back of my knee - only the replaced one, not the other one, weirdly! It’s definitely worth mentioning to your Rheumy but you may find that it’s just something that you’ll need to live with. If it’s any consolation, the pain that I get is nowhere near as bad as it was before the replacement xx
Hi just to say both my TKRs one done 15 yrs ago and the other 9years ago are both good but do get pain in them sometimes but one thing scares me is kneeling on them but I do think you will be ok and just take it easy when they are a bit painful but hey mine are still going strong ! So good luck and take care X 14 penny
My hand surgeon explained very carefully to me than a joint replacement will not stop inflammation from occurring around the new joint, all it does is replace the damaged joint. This has made me accept the fact that I will get some pain and swelling in my knuckles, knee and shoulder which have all been replaced. But the pain I get now is nothing compared to that before the ops so I'm happy with the results.
