Densifique by Kerastase have an excellent range but not cheap. Lasts for ages though as such quality products. If mentioning products not allowed then Admins please remove my post.
I had this on MTX and a feeling of being set on fire and it was stopped for LEF. Then my hair returned to normal . I'm lucky as have thick hair but it came out in handfuls so I saved it to show the RA consultant and he changed meds straight away so might be worth talking to your RA team if you think its related to a medication.
thanks, might be worth speaking to me consultant then.
If on methotrexate this may be the problem? It was for me , and once I stopped it as losing hair was upsetting me, my hair loss stopped. Phew!
I’m 59 and I began to lose a lot of hair when I started taking methotrexate 3 years ago - my hairdresser would comment how thin my hair had become and I had to change how I styled my hair. My rheumatology nurse at the time said that a lot of patients had successfully tried a supplement called Biotin (purchased from Amazon). After a couple of months this started to slow my hair loss and new hair started growing back. I stopped taking it after 12 months and instead began taking a marine collagen supplement in powder form that I stir into a cup of coffee. This is said to be good for bones, hair, teeth, nails. Over a few months this has really thickened up my hair and improved my nails (hopefully helped bones too?). My hairdresser can’t believe the difference it’s made. I recommend you discuss any supplements with your RA nurse or GP before starting to make sure they compliment your medication … but it could be worth a try if methotrexate is otherwise working well for you ? Good luck. 👍
I have the same and saw a dermatologist this week.
She diagnosed androgeneric female alopecia, like male pattern baldness that will get worse.
She said no treatment on nhs but I could buy minoxidil spray but it’s life long use is required or it falls out again.
Truly depressing
Try your dr first and fingers crossed it’s something else x
Mine went thin on mtx so was prescribed folic acid. Works brilliantly.
Hi, my methotrexate dose was increased from 15 - 20mg and then I noticed the thinning/hair falling out. I went to see a trichologist who asked for blood tests, which revealed low Iron and B12 (she said ok for body health but not hair health) she prescribed a multi vitamin tablet which includes iron, B vitamins and biotin.Natures best has a similar one. I also take collagen and try and eat more protein. Not sure which part of this list worked! but it did and Hair is much better. Good luck I know its a horrible feeling.
Hello I had the same problem and have been using Nioxin shampoo, conditioner it certainly has helped, although it is expensive.
