Naproxen

Hi all, am currently in the throes of a flare up while waiting for my ritixamub infusion on the 1st of July. Have been in so much pain, I started taking naproxen, something I have not taken for many years, if my memory serves me correctly I think I had to come off them because of stomach issues. Then had to take Lanzaparole for my stomach. As I said I have been in so much pain, and the naproxen did help, but I am now suffering with my stomach so think I will probably have to stop taking them. Any one else had problems with these meds. ?

I had to stop them for the very same reason, and my liver took a dislike to them 🥴

Are you still on the Lanzaparole too? I have been on naproxen since 2018 with a stomach protector and no issues with my stomach due to the naproxen. x

Not on Lanzaparole at the moment, as it too, has caused me some problems in the past, but I had to take 1 last night as my stomach was so bad.

So sorry to hear your stomach was so bad last night. Definitely need a stomach protector with naproxen so hoping that the GP can prescribe a stomach protector that doesn’t cause more issues. x

Naproxen is an anti inflammatory med , and was advised to take lanzoprazole 1st thing every morning to protect the stomach, it also helps if you take it with or after food. My sister in law had to stop taking it after developing a bleeding stomach ulcer as a consequence......so maybe it's worth chatting to your GP before taking more if you have concerns.

Hello, I take naproxen and Lansopersole. I feel they do help with my pain abit. Mine is still early days so unsure. I do have stomache cramps but i wasn't sure if that's mexothextrate.

I hope they help with your pain nd you are still able to take them xx

I have similar issues. I take NSAIDs with a stomach protector but can only do a short spell. Even ibuprofen causes issues. I think you have to stop taking before yp6 do damage to your digestive system.

Morning Callabag64🖐I have had lots of niggles with different drugs, sometimes I have found differen brands of certain pills cause me problems.

It might be as simple as speaking to your Doctor/pharmacy about Changing the supplier.

One pill I went on instead of Naproxen is Etoricoxib this is specifically for Arthritis and I feel this really makes the difference. Again they do different suppliers of this drug.

I think all the pills we pump in our bodies take their toll and the disease ☹

Hope I have made sense, try to enjoy your weekend 👋

NSAIDs as a group do tend to be harsh on the tum, why we should be also coprescribed a ppi to take with them. For some though it's still not enough, my h for example can only take naproxen for a week & he takes 3 ppi's to protect his tum from his other meds. If you ensure you're prescribed an enteric (or film) coated NSAID that can maybe help in taking them for longer periods but they can still be problematic unfortunately. If yours are enteric coated & the supply you have is out of date & not new,y prescribed that could also be causal as not only the med but the coating deteriorates over time.Do you think a short course of steroids would be an option? Asking your GP might be an idea, see if he's willing to prescribe some pro tem it you have your rituximab infusion. I hope something can be done to lessen the flare.

i can’t stomach the lansopazol or similar drugs so i do naproxen with carbs so pasta bread porridge ect dunno if it will help or am just lucky also try to take the minimum and stop as soon as i can

I was on naproxen and diclofenac for 6 years+. I got ‘toxicity’ all the time. I’ve ditched both of them as they basically rot your insides. I take omniprazole as a stomach protector now..

I got in an awful mess with Naproxen. I ended up with erosive gastritis and lost 2 stone in 3 months. Took me over a year to be anywhere near well and 2 years on Lansoprazole. I'm off them now but can no longer tolerate any NSAIDs. Please be careful.

Thank you for your message, have suffered reflux in the past, which although not gone, is not half as bad as it was. Have stopped the naproxen, pain bad, but waiting to hear from hospital at the moment.
