I carry a biological alert card, and when I took steroids also carried one for them, and I have a list of my drugs on my phone. It’s only the drugs that matter not the diseases.

I personally don’t wish to identify myself with a bracelet.

Very true, because of so many meds for the same disease...

I have now put a list of meds etc. on my phone and in your purse. Am still trying to get a Blue treatment card which is an alert card for those on steroids. If I were on biologics I'd certainly carry an Alert card for that. I personally can't wear jewellery so couldn't have a bracelet.

Hmmm...I need to ask my Dr about the blue card!

You can put it my purse if you want....but a long way for anyone to come to check it! 😉

Yes, that was my thoughts exactly. I am on so many meds for so many conditions, that it would be hard to write them on a card or bracelet. Wondering about alternatives. Also, someone isnt likely to look through your phone to find the list, either.

I’m told that these days it’s what the first responders look for. There’s an app on the iPhone to record all the details. It’s likely Android devices have similar.

I have it as the photo on my lock-screen, so they don’t need to do anything, just open the phone! Other people have cute pictures of their babies or husbands - I have a list of drugs!

In the Health app touch your avatar photo and a new menu opens. Select Medical ID and fill in all your details

On iPhones there’s a place within the health app to put all your medical information. This information is easily found even on a locked phone and emergency medics are all told to look there. I assume there is similar thing on android phones.

I print a copy of my meds and put with my biologics card. I do have a bracelet but unable to wear it. I also include details of my nok so they can contact them if needed. Sue

I'm not on biologics but I have a list of all my medications and those of my husband (clearly marked which is which!) on my phone.

How can one be assured that the person, medical or otherwise, will look on your phone? Just seems like there should be a better way. I dont know what to do, as I am on so many different meds for several conditions, esp immune problems.

I think in a medical emergency the emergency services always check your phone. There’s an option on your phone called ‘Medical ID’ where you can store this type of information. It’s accessible even when the phone is locked, so it can be retrieved when necessary. You can even use it yourself when you need to refer to your list of medications, for instance at the GPs, or hospital...

I have a list of all my medical conditions and medications on my smartphone. I also carry alert cards for my biologic, anti-coagulant and the blue card for steroids. There’s a new NHS Steroid Emergency Card out now too available from your pharmacy but I haven’t got one yet.I don’t wear a bracelet for the same reason as stated by helix helix.

Thank you, will ask my RA dr about all of those.

I have a necklace not with my conditions on it but my meds but others carry a steroids card or biologics alert card.

Where does one get the cards from? Their RA dr.?

KittyJ profile image
KittyJ in reply to movinalong11

I was never given a steroid one hence the necklace, the biologics one is in the pack.

movinalong11 profile image

Also, where did you get your necklace?

I got this one and replaced the chain as I can’t undo clasps so it’s long enough to go over my head.

Not a bracelet, not my thing really, but I do have a complete list of all my meds in the back leaf of my drug monitoring record book, highlighting all that can't be stopped abruptly. Never been able to get a steroid alert card from either GP or chemists, though I may try again as we’ve recently changed to a different one,

Thank you, nomoreheels! Do they have to come from someone in the medical field, necessarily, I wonder?

nomoreheels profile image
nomoreheels in reply to movinalong11

That's ok. Here in the UK the prescriber should issue them with the initial steroid prescription, that would have been my Rheumy, who also didn't have a supply, missed her off! Pharmacies (chemists) should also keep a supply though my previous one didn’t so I’ll ask my h to ask next time he picks repeats up from our new one.

I have ICE on my phone and when phone locked all basic med info there and contact info too and allergy’s

Yes, good idea! I do not have any ICE persons identified on my phone as such, but I shall do that now! Thanks

I just carry my biocard, and have my info in the ICE section of my mobile phone, but he has medicalert bracelet and medallion, both stainless steel, with his meds and allergies/probs on. Not that costly either and central records.
