New here, not sure what I have!

Greetings. For the last 4 months, I have had tingling in both legs beneath the knees. My feet feel like blocks of ice, even though they are warm to the touch. The tingling is accompanied by deep aching pain, and sometimes I get the feeling of something tapping my skin. I know the last one sounds a bit crazy. First of all, I thought it might be the result of my arthritic knees. However, managed to finally get to see my GP. She squeezed my legs, said it might be circulatory, prescribed Gabapentin 1 x 300mg three times a day, and referred me for a Doppler Test. I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure some years ago, so I think my issues are related to my heart problem. I suppose until I get the Doppler test my diagnosis is unknown. However, I would appreciate your comments and advice. I ask for that so I can have a better idea of what to ask my GP, as she is not the sort that communicates information easily and you have to prise it out of her. Thanks in advance.

I have CKD and was diagnosed at level 3b . I had symptoms of neuropathy and was sent for tests, and then referred to a neurologist who prescribed Gabapentin. I also did physical therapy. There is a section of Health Unlocked for neuropathy. Have you been diagnosed with CKD?

No, my kidney function is fine, I have it tested regularly due to the fact I am on diuretics for the heart. I stopped the gabapentin this morning as having dizzy spells and periods of confusion. I can only think it is that. I am surprised as this is the first time, I have had an adverse reaction to medication in my life. So hoping for some answers after the Doppler tests. Thanks for your reply.

I thought with a thread title of "Neuropathy Support" it was just that, hence my post.

Hello, just thought I would let you know of my experience in case it is of help. I was diagnosed with neuropathy (by a neurologist although without many sophisticated tests) due to numb toes and tingling/burning in both feet combined with a strange glowing sensation in my left shin. He prescribed Clonazepam to help me sleep (if I couldn’t get off to sleep promptly, my feet would ‘rev up’ with much burning which was nightmarish) but I decided not to take it as I suspected it would be highly addictive. What has helped me most is SOT chiropractic (no bone cracking, just realigning the head, neck and spine). The glowing/burning has all but disappeared as it was due to a trapped, irritated nerve, and the toes, while still numb, are also improved and I haven’t had burning of the feet at night for a long time. I have probably been attending SOT chiropractic for about a year but now only attend for a short session every 3 months. I tried all sorts of other things without success. I hope this is helpful and gives you an option to pursue if you want to. Good luck with getting a diagnosis and all the best.

hey 1jay, chiropractors don’t crack bones. Do some research to see what that popping sound is. Plenty of information on line.

Thanks for your reply. It is certainly not something I have considered. My mindset has been firmly set on circulatory issues. I will remember this if I just get vague remarks from my GP.
