Hello, I’m new to this group. I’m waiting to be seen by a Neurologist who specializes in headaches, but have been started on treatment for Trigeminal Neuralgia by my Primary doctor. He believes I have a form of Trigeminal Neuralgia, based on how my scalp pain began suddenly and how it has behaved. I was started on evening dose of Gabapentin about 4 weeks ago, as my head was too sore to lay back on….after having severe scalp pain all day. I was told I could take up to 300mg at bedtime, but began with 100mg. It allowed me to sleep, but the pain started up again early in the morning. I took Naproxen and Tylenol to help during the day….but it wasn’t covering the pain enough. I was seen by my doctor and he started me on more Gabapentin. I’m now taking 100mg at 8am and again at noon. I then take 300mg at bed and I’ve had no scalp pain since. That was about 3 weeks ago, that I began this regimen. But about 2 weeks ago, I began having severe leg pain and knee pain in both legs. I workout regularly on a Peloton bike and do weights as well. I’ve been working out for 30 years, and I don’t get sore like this ever. I’ve tried stretching classes, yoga classes and nothing helps. I can barely bend down to pick up my cats food dish and scooping his litter box is really painful….especially first thing in the morning. My knees are so uncomfortable when I’m sleeping and bending them the least bit..wakes me up. The pain seems to get a bit better throughout the day with walking, but bending down is still a problem and I always use a counter to pull myself back up. I’m turning 60 this month and I can’t believe how I feel! I feel 90! The only new thing in my life is the Gabapentin and after talking to a pharmacist, she said 6% of people taking Gabapentin for extended periods…reported muscle aches and pain. Now I have an appointment agin to see my doctors PA on Friday, to discuss the Gabapentin.
Has anyone had problems like this?
