Hello to all,
I had a TIA the day after my 74th birthday ... 2nd. March 2021. Hospital visit that day, but MRI not conclusive so sent home.
Full blown stroke in my sleep at home the following morning so ambulance back to Royal Berkshire hospital for MRI ect confirming damage to left side of brain, speech, left arm, and leg affected.
The following night in hospital, another stroke caused full immobility of left limbs and mouth. ECG and heart scan discovered additional myocardial infarction ... damage to left side of heart and pooling blood in that chamber causing blood clots to travel to my brain.
After new meds and much physio, I regained speech, limited walking with a stick and some use of hand and arm, which was also broken during a fall about day 10 in hospital.
Home after 5 week and with daily visits from physio heroes I was getting about with a stick, and using my right hand and arm to carry out chores 1 ect.
At the beginning of August I was preparing to organise medical examination to drive again, but disaster struck,.. a dizzy spell at home which lasted an hour as I went to bed was a precursor to another nasty stroke in my sleep which took me back to square one, unable to even stand the following morning.
Very slow recovery and rehabilitation this time, still unsteady and arm and leg very weak, unable to use right hand. Now waiting for results of portable ECG tape I have been wearing at home
Determined to recover enough to ride a bicycle I had started to convert to electric assistance on a tight budget, before this recent setback.
Sorry for the ramble folks, thank you if you had the patience to read
Alan.
