End of MRI Access Fund

Hi All,

OMG: I was told yesterday that MSAA's MRI Access Fund is no longer available.

Although I have Medicare, getting the financial assistance with paying my $300 co-pay for the MRI was very helpful to me as most are living on a fixed income.

MSAA still has lots of wonderful programs for us, like this great email site with HealthUnlocked, yet I am sad. Are you aware of this program ending? Is it forever gone? *Sigh*

🙂🤞🤗🫶

Sorry, donna0329. I didn't use the program myself, but I can understand why it would be upsetting. Living with MS is so difficult already, without getting the news that things are going to be harder still. I wish you the best.

Thank you for calling attention to this. I looked it up, and the program may come back eventually. I'm so sorry this is affecting you and others.

I have used it every 2 years to help with the copay. I will miss it and hopefully it will return.

Nope. Sad news.

Disappointing. MRI copay and cooling vests are very good reasons to donate to MSAA.

I agree it's always a good time to donate to MSAA.

But it was my understanding the Big Pharma drug companies were the funding source behind the once every two-year MRI reimbursement up to a certain amount.

I thought it was a win-win because they could help fund the "proof" that their drugs were working in slowing progression.

Does the NMSS or the NMSF (foundation) have a comparable program. I get all of these programs confused. MS Lifelines, maybe?

Hopefully it is not permanent. They didn’t want to shutter it at all, but funding is down all over for nonprofits.
