Sore Penile Skin

Hello,

The past 6 months i've had discomfort in my foreskin which occasionally looks red (mainly in the morning) over the months ive had STI tests (negative) my GP did FBC (Negative) Urine test (Negative) and a swab which found Thrush, i was treated by antifungal medications and cream for two weeks and my latest swab returned negative. I still have been suffering with like a burning pain in my foreskin. Sometimes worse after urinating. My GP is now treating me with a steroid cream but i feel its made the discomfort worse. When it first started the skin was a little itchy, that cleared and then it felt like a burning sensation and currently still does but more like a burn feeling.

My GP suspected friction so i changed all my underwear to cotton and covered my foreskin in Vasline to use as a barrier. Im still suffering and the next step is to be referred to a dermatologist which could be a further 3 months.

Can anybody on here offer any advice or support please as this is now starting to effect my mental health as its really irritating.

Much thanks in advance.

Craig

Buy some coconut oil coldpressed virgin coconut oil the best quality and liberally apply it to the area several times a day also buy some flaxseed oil and take a tablespoon orally twice a day, buy some fish oil capsules and evening primrose oil capsules I think all this will help

Hi - I have had similar skin problems, although not in exactly the same area. I can't really say I know how to solve them - I wish I did know. But I have found that keeping a concise written record of all of the things I have tried and how the symptoms have changed over time and bringing it along really helps to get the most out of a rare and/or brief appointment with a dermatologist who isn't familiar with my history. Since my skin condition can change pretty dramatically from one day to the next, I also keep photographs to show the dermatologist - but obviously whether you do depends on your personal situation and comfort level.

I was also prescribed a steroid cream once, and I didn't fully understand the instructions about how long to use it, specifically that it was only meant to be used for a short time. I used it for several months and I ended up with a patch of permanently thinned skin as a result. I think sometimes GPs forget to mention that so I now think it's worth rereading the instructions to be sure!
