I am 47 and have had OCD MY entire life. It's not mostly just my thoughts. My son is 18 and struggles when religious OCD. My daughter is 21 and her OCD has exploded over the past 4-5 years. She has been diagnosed with OCPD. She had been hospitalized 14 times for suicidal ideation or attempts. She has done TMS, ketamine, and now about to start ECT. We are having a hard time getting her OCD help because of the MDD and suicidal thoughts, attempts and self harm. Can anyone relate to any of this? We few so helpless as parents and it caused severe depression and anxiety in me. Our entire family is impacted by this!

I'm so sorry you guys are struggling. I had to hospitalize my daughter once but not for the same but, ugh. OCD cannot win, keep fighting!
Huggggggggg
Hi I have religious Ocd, and have struggled with suicidal ideation, the most important thing to stop the intrusive thoughts is to see a Psychiatrist (not psychologist,) and see if they can get put in SSRIS (which is given for OCD Patients ) the internet says the thoughta cant stop but go see a Psychiatrist, completely life changing I have lived with OCD for almost 12 years and only got diagnosed by a Psychiatrist a year ago, once I got put on SSRIS the thoughts stopped (which I didn't think was possible) trust me it is Life changing
Hello jcozy…
First of all, I am so sorry for the pain you and your family are going through. I will pray for all off you.
I have had OCD for 39 years. I got it when I was 15 and now I’m 54. I didn’t know what I had for 20 years and was finally diagnosed at 35. I often thought that if I had known what I had. I wouldn’t have gotten married and wouldn’t have had kids (we have 4).
We have seen varying levels of high anxiety and even OCD in each of the four. Some greater some less. I never hid the fact that I had OCD from them so they each came to me at different times asking for help and advice. My one daughter self harmed in dealing with her anxiety. My other daughter considered suicide a number of times and then got into an extramarital affair when her husband chastised her for being “out of her mind.” They are trying to keep their marriage together. My oldest one got into all kinds of trouble due to her high anxiety. Our son, now 15, seems to have weathered his anxiety well. We keep praying for each of our children.
All of this has brought untold pain and even separation. Our two oldest girls are estranged from us. It all hurts and is extremely difficult.
My wife and I have to just keep trusting the will of the Lord and walking forward the best we can. The Lord Jesus has been our only comfort.
Please know that you are not alone and that I will be praying for you and your family.
