I'm wondering if anyone else is struggling with poor appetite while being o peginterferon.I have been on it for 4 years diagnosed with MF. The dose has gradually been raised but was then put up again to 135 weekly a few months ago because my spleen was enlarging.im now waiting for another appointment for an ultrasound, but am also feeling low with no appetite and being told to not lose weight!

Seems high weekly dose. Get a phone consultation with MPN for second opinion . 👍

It is possible your weight loss / low appetite is a result of your spleen becoming larger. It gives you a full sensation. It is a common thing to look for in MF.

So sorry to hear you're feeling low and with no appetite. That's no fun at all. I've felt the same until they've got my dosage (of fedratinib) better balanced for me. I hope they find a better solution for you. Hilary

I'm on Besremi and I haven't noticed a decrease in my appetite. Are you taking anything else that could impact your hunger? I recently lost weight due to a migraine medication. I'm making sure to drink a protein drink every day as I don't eat as much on this particular medication.

I'm on other medications for high blood pressure too

Is that medication associated with weight loss?

Peginterferon is but I don't think medicines for high blood pressure are.

Hi,

Did your migraine develop as a result of Besremi? I had terrible headaches for 8 days after 7th dose of Besremi. I do have hypertension and my blood pressure increased as well. I upped my BP meds and the headaches have subsided, though there still remains an odd sensation in my head. Had a CT scan( normal) and MPN wants me to have a MRI "just to be on the safe side" as she quotes! I will continue Besremi but will go back to lowest dose (50mcg) and see how things go. I really don't want to give up on Besremi. My WBC, Hct and Hg are all in normal range now with platelets trending down. I also notice that I eat less on this med , as well.

HI! No, I have had migraines since puberty. That said, they got worse for a short time on Besremi until I started Aimovig and Nurtec. CGRP Inhibitors. Combination of those drugs and more time on Besremi helped me. My Besremi dose is 150 and I would stay on it even if my migraines increased again as the benefits to me, are huge.

Hi caroline_284, when my dose was increased to 90mcg per week my appetite initially shrank quite considerably to toddler portions to begin with. It took a few weeks for my appetite to increase slightly and it would vary as well. I am now on 45mcg every 3 weeks and my appetite has increased, but my appetite still varies.

Thank you, that's helpful to know.I believe .MF itself can affect appetite.
