I’ve had depression for a few years and in my last post I explain how I feel a lot. I have a lot of the criteria to be diagnosed with BPD. I feel like there is something causing my depression and was wondering wether BPD could be the underlying cause?

Can BPD cause depression?
Hi Cazzy,
I really think you need to ask this question from a medically qualified person, as only they are best placed to diagnose you based on your symptoms and medical history. We are a peer support forum but is no substitute for professional medical advice. Although the views and opinions shared by folks here may have similarities to your experiences, everyone is different and though well-meaning, the advice could be misleading. So please speak to your doctor and ask for a mental health referral to see a psychiatrist. They can then discuss a range of treatment options and support you.
Best wishes,

Hi I have to agree with our admin - you need a professional diagnosis first before you can decide on treatment.
And yes this can be a major cause of depression. x
You need help with these problems you describe, so see your GP and explain how you feel. Your GP will arrange a treatment for you so you will gain help, encouragement and assistance in your daily living experiences
Your concerns can be treated over time so you need that help to move on in a positive way

I appreciate all of your messages I’m just so scared of seeing my GP again. I saw her before about my depression and I feel like she won’t believe me or she’ll laugh at me and tell me I’m being ridiculous 😔
