Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with depression and was given anti depressants 5 days ago. I've noticed that they give me a fuzzy/cloudy mind and my neck and shoulder pain intensifies. I haven't been well for along time and have suffered with neck and shoulder aches for several months. Is this because of my depression? Thanks

Hi.
I suffered with back pain for many months (still do but not as intensely) whilst badly suffering with depression. A good doctor told me that having depression whilst in pain is like adding fuel to a fire, the pain is very real but will be made worse because of how you are feeling. So yes it could be because you are feeling depressed, have you spoken to your doctor about the pain and had their opinion?
Also antidepressants can take a couple of weeks before they begin to help and you can get side effects to begin with (fuzzy head) but these should settle down, try to persevere. If these symptoms don't get better tell your doctor as there are many different medications you can try till you find the one that 'fits' you.

Fuzzy head can be a result of all sorts. Tiredness, depression, pain, pills. And a huge hang over of course. Be reassured you are not alone. Stick with pills.
Re pain. From experience if I lay about. I.e. While watching tv. I find the neck pain increases. When my neck pain flares my depression deepens. And suss out a good pillow. They can make all the difference.
