Years ago when I was small I remember watching one of the sunday programs of the time (this would have been the 1960s) which had a puppeteer talking to her puppet and telling the puppet that god always answered payers - so the puppet asked her what would happen if he prayed for a lot of presents: the answer the puppeteer gave was 'although god always answers he doesn't always say yes.
