Rash on penis

Ok so about 6 months ago I had sex with my wife when I noticed what looked like scratches on the tip of my penis. Didn't think anymore about it but I then noticed pain when pulling the foreskin back and it was tight like an elastic band being put around it. Then I noticed a red patch had formed on the penis head. Again. Didn't worry too much but did start to take more notice of it anyway, I noticed a really angry looking red patch and also on at the penis shaft when I pull the set for skin back. This has gradually got worse. Went to see my GP last week and he assumed it was ballinitis and gave me a hydrocortisone cream. This has just worsened things and I now have a rash all over my penis head. It is not itchy and doesn't hurt but is freaking me out big time. I have not had sex with anybody else other than my wife And I know for a fact that my wife hasn't had sex with anybody else as she has been housebound for the last 3 years. The doctor has now referred me to an STI clinic, but I know for a fact that it cannot be this. Any ideas guys?

It may be a fungal infection. Have you tried an anti fungal treatment like Canesten?

I have the same type of problem and have been struggling for years. My advice is to look for the exact nature of the problem, good dermatologist. It can be candida, but it can also be a bacteria, maybe even a virus, or even another type of problem. Does not accept treatments without at least taking a microbial sample from your glans. I’ve struggled with Balantitis for two years now and that is What your problem sounds like. I’ve used that many creams and some work for a while and others have the reverse affect. My condition isn’t bad enough to go for circumcision which in one respect I’m glad about but in the other I have to manage it daily. Currently I have the rash on the tip which is the best it’s been for a while as it can outbreak really bad under the foreskin. To keep the condition calm I try not to use creams anymore but clean it daily in warm water with a drop of lavender oil and then cover with heated to room temperature coconut oil. This seems to help, I think it’s a matter of keeping it clean and dry which will help. So ensure you are restricting it slot when going to the toilet as when using lies underneath this will also cause problems. Hope you get it sorted, seems to be very little help out there at the moment that is unless you’ve the money to pay for it.
