Showering after getting circumcised.

Hello, it has been 12 days since my circumcision. My doctor told me to not get water on my penis when I shower; so, I am writing this post to ask if anyone knows how I am supposed to shower without getting my penis wet( I cannot take a bath because I don't have a bathtub).

If you have stitches or staples on incision line it is suggested to wait 24-48 hrs post op before wet the wound. With glue 4-5 days.

Are you going to wait 3 more weeks or what is you plan? 😜 If so you can put your penis to a plastic bag or a condom and keep it upward with your other hand.

You can read more about wound healing here:

Part of the modern wound care is to cover the wound until the incision site is healed and there is no discharge anymore.

A strip of paraffin gauze to contact layer prevents the woven gauze stuck into dried wound discharge.

Paraffin gauze dressings like 'Jelonet' 10x10 cm, 10 pcs cost under 10€.

Homemade saline: Boil 1 litre of tap water and add 1 tea spoon of table salt. Stir. You can bath your penis in a bowl or a tea mug, when the solution is cooled down near the body temperature. 5-10 min, once a day. You can rinse with it too. Some German doctors suggest bath with chamomile.

I'm guessing you have soluble stitches, hence the recommendation from your Doc'.I was advised to take short baths from day three. Like many things to do with circumcision there is inconsistent advice.

To be honest at day 12 getting the area wet should not be a problem for you.

I would take the advice given by S2BC and use a little salt water to clean.

I do have soluble stitches. Also, the doctor/nurse said i shouldn't use any salt. just soap and water

Saline won't melt your stitches right away. You can rinse with it, if your tap water is not drinkable. I think there is medical culture differences between Europe and South Asia/India.

Do not use soap unless it very mild, such as baby soap or emollient.
