Waxy type discharge from the penis tip after circumsision

Son is a week and a half post op circumsision. He has like a yellow wax that drips from his penis end and it’s dried like wax. Has anyone else had this? He finds it impossible to get rid of. Plus he still bleeds from his wound unsure if that’s normal too? Still can’t wear a pair of pants!!

Sounds like smegma which is produced to stop the foreskin sticking to the head of the penis it seems like the glands has gone into overdrive for some reason it may settle down in time I'm I'm just wash the penis everyday with mild soap and water carefully it should heal up in time

My son had this also after being circumcised but was just part of the healing process. He also couldn’t wear pants for about 3 months and used to start urinating without knowing. Terrible experience but 10 months down the line completely healed. I hope your son is healed and wearing pants again asap 😁

Omg 10 months!! How did he get about? He’s in to his third week off 6th form and he’s not doing work at home because he’s a lazy 17 year old. He can’t tolerate pants 😩 I don’t know what to do with him. He’s desperate to get out abs exercise too as he’s really sporty. He’s had a rough time to say the least after a dreadful infection that had him in A&E twice!! I’ve never ever witnessed anyone in so much agony in my life. Oh bless, weeing without knowing 😢 he was dribbling at the start of his healing which was bad enough. I seriously thought something had badly gone wrong and he’d lose his penis the way things were going. Worst experience he’s ever had. Seems a lot better but still can’t wear those pants

From what I remember he used to soak it off with salty warm water, I will ask him when he gets back from school! He’s only 11 and also very sporty like your son. We were lucky because it was done in lockdown so no school and he just used to walk around naked all day. I tried to get him to wear tight pants but couldn’t cause of sensitivity so after about 3 months he just used to go around commando!! I bought him a groin protector when he went back to playing sports! Your poor son, it’s awful seeing them go through pain, luckily mine had no infections. My son is now over it completely but I am still traumatised 😢. I really really hope your son feels better soooooon x

Was it because of phimosis? He used to get balanitis a lot when he was young. They mentioned circumsision back then but I just couldn’t have put him through it so young. My son had a very tight foreskin.

He’s worried it won’t work properly now. He’s 17 and is wanting a girlfriend 🙈. Oh wow a lockdown circumsision that was a very good idea!! He’s missing out on so much I’m so worried.

He’s been walking round commando too. Have not seen his penis seen he was young 😂

I know what you mean by traumatised though. After his A&E visits and him screaming in absolute agony for hours on both occasions due to the infection one night I just sat in tears and I felt physically sick because of all the trauma to him (and to me abs his dad). It’s been a really bad abs very exhausting time.

I’m so glad your son is all healed up 😊

Yes, his was also due to phimosis and balanitis and I like you didn’t want him to go through it, we tried cream for a couple of years but to no avail and it got so bad I knew we had to do it for his sake and I’m so glad we did. You’re son will heal I promise and it will work. Mine is 11 and sometimes when he gets up in the morning you can see it’s working! Mne had chloromephenical ointment to help with the healing, it was like Vaseline with antibiotics in it…. That may help. Please ask anything else if you need to and I’m sure in a few weeks your son will be well on the road to recovery xxxx

I was circumcised 20 days ago as a 38 year old adult and was also unable to wear pants for the first 6 days, it was horrendous. From my personal experience, I would recommend you buy him some tight underpants (not very fashionable for a young man, I know!). Prior to the operation, I always wore boxer shorts but they rub too much after the operation. I began by smearing lots of Vaseline on the fabric of the underpants and it made things a whole lot easier. A week later and I no longer need the Vaseline and am walking about normally. Best wishes to you and your son, you will get through this!

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Hmm I bought him so boxers thinking he needed space but maybe he needs something to hug his penis in to. Worth a try and the Vaseline sounds a good trick. He needs to get back to 6th form urgently and his pants are the only obstacle now!! He’s just 2.5 weeks post op. It’s been a terrible experience because of his infection he developed on day 4!!

Get him some tight underpants. I bought some cheap ones from Matalan. I would never want a girl to see me in them but short term, they have given me my life back. Your son may not initially be grateful but long term he will be thanking you!

Did the waxy stuff just come off on it’s own? He had to pick a hole in it to wee at one point as it literally set like hard wax 🙈

The substance is likely the result of surgery.I would advise taking a short soak in warm salt water or use very mild soap. Pat dry very gently or air dry if still sore to the touch.

Thank you for your reply. Lots of people saying salt in water. I’ve been scared to til now but as he seems in a lot less discomfort I’m going to add some to his bath. He’s managed to get the waxy stuff off at last!!!

Good to hear he is improving, it can be a difficult time but it does get better.
