Hey guys so I got my circumcision about 11 days ago. Outside of quite a big up build of slough on the underside, everything seemed to be okay but I have a large open wound on the back (I suspect this happened due to a nighttime arousal).
I am really freaking out about this, my surgeon said it’s nothing to worry about and has been super casual throughout the process but I don’t feel comfortable walking around with an open wound that is slowly oozing puss. The rest of the stitchline seems fine but this part on the back is a gaping hole.
I can’t even get hold of my surgeon today which is making me anxiety rocket. Should I go A and E? It isn’t bleeding but it is occasionally stinging.

I have the same problem but got advice to start salt water soak and using a wound ointment that was petroleum based to protect it. It's slowly closing up, not oozing any longer and now not painful to touch.
You're welcome. It is looking a lot better. The wound is still open but not gaping any longer. It's slowly decreasing in size and the insides are granulating so it's closing. The biggest change has been in the last two days since the salt water + petroleum ointment to keep it moist. I was always under the impression one needed it to "air dry" but now they're saying keeping the wound moist with that ointment ensures no scabbing and mitigates scaring.
Best of luck for your appointment. Hope you do find a solution and it is on the improve momentarily.
I had mine done 7 weeks ago.. I also had a large open wound where they must have cut off my frenelum.. It looks bad but it does heal mate because I was stressing over the same thing. I honestly thought the surgeon butchered me but after week 4 it was completely healed. Worrying yes but like I said it heals from the inside so it does take a bit of time. I also found having a bath with salt in sped up the process too. 👍
Thanks so much for the reply, mate. I also have been feeling like the surgeon butchered it and it’s been getting me so down. Fingers crossed it will start to close up like yours did. How bad is the scarring as a result of this?
The underside takes the longest. So don’t be worried.
The underside and the frenulum take a long time to heal. And what you are experiencing - raw wound and stinging is not unusual. Some doctors are a little more helpful and let you bandage the scar a little longer - so perhaps a wound ointment a small patch to cover the wound and a gauze and a compression wrap over it will help make You feel more comfortable and keep the wound secure.
