Circumcision concerns

I am 69 and just had to have a circumcision 13 days ago seams silly to have this opp after nearly 70 years ,

My concern is that I am very swollen and it’s still painful I can’t see an end to it , it even hurts to pee sometimes I am paranoid about cleanliness even to the extent using sanitizer on my hands before I touch it so I know it’s not infected I’m hoping it gets better soon

Does anyone else have similar experiences

Better late than never man. My swelling has gone down already and I'm only on day 4. Remember it can take up to 6 weeks to heal. I dred going to the toilet though. For me I feel like I have to pee very slowly otherwise the pressure feels like my penis head is literally going to burst off.

I fear you may be making a big mistake with the sanitiser and might actually be causing your own issues. Alcohol in hand sanitizer kills germs but it also damages living tissue. I'm assuming you still have open wounds if you're in pain so definitely quit using the sanitiser as you may be making the wounds worse. Don't even use soap in the shower as they have chemicals in them that can affect you also.

My suggestion would be to have a plain warm water shower in either the morning or night, which ever is best for your living situation. Just let the running water clean the penis. Don't scrub it you might open the stitches. When done in the shower dry off and wrap the head of the penis in a loose, but strong bandage. Leave enough room for the peehole to be free though so you don't have to remove the bandage everytime you go toilet. This way you don't have to worry about germs and you can hold the bandage as you pee without any sanitiser on your hand. Over cleanliness is so bad for you man. With the overusing hand sanitiser you lose the ability to build up resistance to bacteria. And you're more likely to get ill.

I would just keep repeating this everyday and see if it helps. Good luck! Btw I'm no expert by a long shot so take my advice as you wish. This is just how I've been doing it the last few days.

Thanks for the advice I will take on board what you say about the sanitiser I have no open wounds now ,I have a shower every morning and bathe it with low pressure warm water I only use soap free body wash so that shouldn’t be a problem.

I’m hoping it will settle down given time

After all we are all different

Thanks

I had mine done at 51 and have blogged my recovery here circ.blog .. Stick with it, it will get better. Definitely stay away from the hand sanitizer, urine is relatively sterile and you're doing the right thing by bathing once per day

I'm about the same age as you and had mine done about 6 months ago due to phimosis. It took at least 3 weeks for my swelling to go down enough to be recognisable as my penis . I agree the peeing thing wasn't fun. I found it more comfortable to sit down at the beginning and it was also safer as my stream seemed to go in all directions for a few weeks. It will get better although it might not seem like that at moment. Everyone's different but I found week 4 a turning point and it became more bearable as long as I was careful not to knock it accidentally and wore comfortable clothing, so hang in there and it will be worth it in the end.

I had mine at 70 as well. It took several weeks/months for the swelling to go down completely. Give it time, and try to relax. I am pleased with the outcome a year later!
