I wish I'd known this before my circ - literally the most painful thing at the moment is pubes sticking to my newly exposed glans. The pre-op checklist said not to shave because of risk of infection but pubes don't grow that quickly so I would strongly recommend you get in there and trim with a pair of scissors, particularly the area above the penis if you sleep on your back. Don't shave, just prune them good and short...

Yes, indeed. Don't shave your pubes, unless you already regularly do so, but trim them a week before the op (to give the cut ends time to soften).

I trimmed mine but pre op they said it needs to be shaved so they shaved a bit more
In hospital operating theatres, as opposed to speciallist circumcision clinics, there is a long-standing practice of shaving the operation area in theatre. The rationale is hygiene, but this is really not very relevant in the case of the external procedure of circumcision and is really just a matter of 'we always do it'.
If the hospital want to shave a patient, all well and good - it will do no harm. However when a patient not used to shaving that part of his body does it for himself he is more likely to introduce small cuts which can later attrat infetion to the very area where it needs to be eliminated.
The advice the the patient himself must be not to shave, but to trim hi pubes before circumcision.
