I did the surgery on Saturday and I had the bandage till Monday. I took it off and there’s been a lot of sensitivity on the head of the penis and a lot of yellowish at the bottom of the head. I’m really worried as a young teenager as I hope everything goes well and I hope nothing has got infected. I put on the Vaseline on the yellowish bit and the frenulum. It’s also really hard to sleep as the sensitivity is a lot
Do I need to wash my penis everyday?
Could you also give me tips on what I can do Better or what I should add in?
Hi Carlos, don’t worry about the sensitivity..that’s normal, everyone has this,it’ll fade over time..get gauze, put Vaseline on the gauze and wrap it around the head of your penis and wear tight, supportive underwear to keep your penis pointing upwards. The yellow stuff is probably just lymphatic fluid and is normal in the healing process, keep an eye on it and if you’re worried see your doctor. One handy tip have a bag of frozen peas ready to deal with nighttime erections..wrap it in a tea towel and put it on your erection to get It down fast..I’m on day 15 and I change my dressing daily,I take a shower in the morning and soak my penis in a glass of warm salty water for 15 mins and wash it off with clean water, then I make sure everything is completely dry(hairdryer on cool…NOT hot!😱😂)then I wrap it up for the rest of the day,I put antiseptic cream on gauze and wrap it around the wound site and hold it on with that self adhesive pressure tape…repeat again then the next day and on until it’s all healed up…If you’re worried at any time always ring your doctor….good luck👍
Okay thanks a lot Do I have to put the gauge or can I just soak my penis in the salty water, dry it up and then put Vaseline on the frenulum. After this i can put my boxers on.
Could I repeat this twice a day and gradually with this process, the sensitivity will go down or do you think this is not the best way?
As I’m a young teenager at 18, is the time to heal usually quicker and would my penis go back to normal
I’d put gauze on,covered in Vaseline it stops the friction much better than just Vaseline, also if you can get an antiseptic ointment with an anesthetic use that on the gauze as well, helps a bit with the sensitivity.I’m only on the start of my 3rd week so the sensitivity is still strong but getting less, run the shower over the head of your penis as this helps desensitize it.I generally put fresh gauze on morning and night, just be patient, keep an eye on things and you’ll be fine.
I’ll definitely try that. How much gauge of layers do you need and should I cover half of the head. Does the Vaseline make the gauge stick or do I use a form of tape.As I’ve still got the stitches, would the gauge maybe affect the stitches or not?
With washing the penis
Can I start with washing the head and frenulum with salty water, Then have a light shower?
I’ve seen many people comment:
The sensitivity will get better if you force the friction by wearing your pants and allowing your penis to adapt to the change losing the sensitivity
Here in Nordic countries it is suggested to use a gauze on incision site until the wound is healed and there is no discharge anymore.
Wound care once a day:
shower/saline bath > if you wet the gauze it is easier to remove > clean the wound (water/saline) you can wipe it with non-woven sponges > dry the incision site properly with clean cloth or use hair dryer (cool/mild setting) > apply petroleum jelly/medical honey ointment or use strips of paraffin gauze > cover with a gauze > repeat until the wound is healed.
The wound is part where the incision is located. It could be covered by yellowish fluid discharge or dry blood aka scab.
I always wonder what is the purpose of apply petroleum jelly onto penis head, if there is no wound on it. Do you have infection on it? I do understand it may reduce friction when you have clothes on, because sticky layer stick in clothes. Is that the point of usage?
Yep. You can use saline bath twice a day on first weeks. If you live in tropic you can have a shower more than once a day, if you put a plastic bag on penis and keep it upwards. Then the gauze won't wet every time.
Don’t worry the yellowish parts will heal don’t mess with them. Let it naturally heal don’t apply anything to it, you’re too early in the game. It’s gonna get ugly before it gets nice. Just trust in the process. I’m 7 weeks and still healing. Just try and avoid morning erections if you can. They will hurt the first 2 weeks or so.
Here is the thing bro, I was told by my urologist to not put anything on it until after 4 weeks, including Vaseline. I followed his advice but after the 5th week I put Vaseline a bit. But for only a couple days. If you can talk to your urologist and get an opinion.
No for the first week you don't wash it. I used another bandage when mines came off and used neosporin on it. It's really sensitive and uncomfortable as well
I didn’t do that to be honest but many guys have said they have done it. But you definitely need to see your urologist ASAP. He will answer all your questions. Make sure when you shower you don’t let water directly hit your penis, let the water kind of flow down. You’ll be sensitive for a while
You’re going to be fine bro don’t worry. The hardest is the 1st week. It gets a little more easier every week after. Just don’t do any extracurricular activities if you know what I mean. Let it heal.
Rather than boxer shorts try wearing tight cotton briefs. Trimming your pubes will stop them sticking to the head. Try to dress with your penis vertical (so the ridge of your glans is against your groin). All this will stop it moving around when you walk but just stick with it, it's gonna be sensitive for a while
