Looking to get some info. How long after circumcision do you have to wait to soak in a bathtub? I’m 7 weeks but still have about 50% of my stitches so wondering if that will mess things up. Thanks

Your stitches should have all dissolved, or been removed, by 2 weeks after the circumcision to avoid stitch tunnels forming.

You should shower in preference to bathing for 8 weeks so that the wound is not subjected to dirty water from other parts of your body. However, if you have only a bath and no shower available, wait until the wound has basically sealed - 2-3 weeks before taking a bath. In the meantime use a face cloth to thoroughly wash your pubic area. Don't soak in the bath, but wash as rapidly as practicable commensurate with getting properly clean. A quick rinse in fresh water at the end is useful.

Hi your stitches should have dissolved by now really they should be gone after three week or removed. Your wound should be sealed before having a bath if they are it should be ok. Usually a shower is preferable after 3 days you can also gently wash with some salted water in a small bowl. But after 7 weeks your wound should be healed I would see about removing the remaining stitches as they have done their job and probably causing inflammation and irritation to your scar line.

You could certainly have the ends of the stitches snipped off. They will usually drop off but never dissolve. Only the part of the stitches inside the body dissolve.

Is it something I could do, or do I have to go to the urologist to do it?

in reply toCircumcisedKing

I would not remove my own sutures especially on a sensitive area. In the UK a GP (primary care doctor) or a nurse could do it.
