How much skin is taken off when I have a circumsision?
Impossible to say as it depends on your personal circumstances.
There’s different techniques so it depends on your doctor/surgeon - I’d definitely ask them how much of the foreskin they take off.
It depends on how much overhang of foreskin you have and whether you are having a 'high' or 'low' cut as well as the chosen tightness. The least skin is removed by a 'high and loose' cut and the most by a 'low and tight' one.
The object of circumcision is to remove enough skin to permanently expose the glans, but the more foreskin that is removed the greater the possible benefits in respect of reduced risk of STIs, etc.
The foreskin consists of two types of tissues, skin which is the outer layer, and mucosa which is the inner layer. Circumcision can be done in such a way to remove mostly skin or mostly mucosa. Some surgeons offer a choice, but most just do as they were trained. The answer to your question is literally in the doctor’s hand. Whatever his choice, the tissue removed amounts to roughly 15 sq inches, 3” x 5”, from an adult male.
I'm all for keeping the foreskin. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
However, if you want a circumcision, that is your business and yours alone.
Are you considering a circumcision or is your question just curiosity?
If you are considering it because it is giving you problems and nothing so far has worked, that is one thing.
If you are being pressured into it, that is just plain wrong and it shows a lack of respect for you and your body by those exerting the pressure.
If you decide to go through with a circumcision, make sure you have thoroughly researched the subject . Get your facts from reputable sources, not social media.
Best of luck.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and good results if you go through with it.
