Circumcision - flacid length

Hi everyone,

I'm 8 days post-circumcision, and so far I haven't had any problems at all. I haven't had any bleeding since around 4 days after the procedure, and haven't needed to take any painkillers, the only real pain I've had is when I've woken up with an erection. Still some swelling, but this is gradually reducing each day, so I'm really pleased so far, it's much easier than I expected.

The only issue I have is that my flacid length sea to have reduced quite significantly - it's as if my penis is trying to hide back in my body! I assume this is because of the surgery, but the reduction in size means that the skin of the shaft of my penis partly covers my glans - the head has pulled back so the skin forms almost a new foreskin before doubling over to where the skin is stitched.

I'm hoping this is fairly normal and is likely to resolve quite quickly - I wonder if anyone else has any experience of this? I had hoped for a fairly tight circumcision which, if my penis returns to its previous size I think I will have, but if it stays at its present size I will feel as if it's only a partial circumcision!

I Asked my surgeon about this today (by ail, he hasn't seen it since the surgery) and he essentially told me that my penis hasn't shrunk, it just looks smaller due to the lack of foreskin, but I am 100% sure there is a reduction in size. I don't normally have a particularly big penis, but it's usually long enough to point downwards - now there doesn't seem to be enough shaft when soft to point downwards, it sticks straight out.

I'd be grateful to hear others experience or advice.

Circumcision does not remove any size from your penis. It does, however, result in swelling and tightness which can make it appear as though your surgeon has chopped some off. You are very early in the healing process and you need to be patient. All surgeries take time to fully heal as many posts on the forum will tell you.

Your penis is likely still swollen, so you may find that the skin and shaft swallow the rest of your penis when you’re completely flaccid. I was having the same issue, but around day 10 I gently pulled the skin on my shaft back away from my head before wrapping in gauze to train the skin to be held in place away from the head. This issue resolved by day 14 and i’m day 18 post cut! Be gentle and listen to your body. Don’t pull if it hurts.

Hi , I'm on the same day as yours with the progress yes even I felt the change in size but I feel it waver ever now and then I don't think theres nothing to worry , I'm slowly just pulling my skin to the back then and there to see If everything is normal, hope you have a good recovery, Vaseline helps

You may have some swelling at the shaft. Physically it can not shrink due to circumcision that would only happen if you had a very tight circumcision which you obviously do not have

How do you know if you have had a tight circumcision or not. I got circumcised a few days ago. When I booked the operation I didn’t request a specific one loose or tight. Bit worried about potentially loosing length. If you have any insight would be great to hear back thanks.

same question here, nurse said it would be a loose one because i am a grower but when i am erect it looks like its tight as the scar line is a good 4 cm down shaft from bottom of glans

dont forget your foreskin was holding up your penis,now that its gone theres nothing to support it...my one is like a mushroom...no one see,s me naked anymore

sounds like you are a grower, not a shower.. for some reason growers like myself get cold easily so retracts into our bodies and needs a foreskin to keep it warm.. my post-op also the same and also feel like i have lost a lot of length! which is weird because its outside skin so do not know how that is even possible.. even fully erect it looks smaller than before!
