I have gotten a circumcision about two days ago and I don't seem to be able to remove the gauze which was under the bandage.
My penis is still red and looks swollen.
The gauze is stuck to the lower part of the glans in a lot of dried blood that looks almost black.
Many posts have recomended taking a bath to loosen it up but i am still a little hesitant because I'm afraid the wound may open up if I were to remove the gauze.
Is it going to have any potential risks if I don't take it off for now and wait two more days until i have an appointment with my urologist?

I removed my bandage on the second day and the bandage was kinda sticking to the dry blood , however after just a tiny bit of force it was able to come off. If u tried and it still won’t come off u can go to your doc for help
I left a small patch of gauze for 4 weeks and got it off in a bath yesterday. I cut away what I could at the time and kept wha to left on dry, even used a hair dryer. When I rang the doc he said that he used skin glue and stitches so it would be hard to get off.
Hi Andreas I wouldn't worry too much about the gauze take off as much as you can but don't force it. I wouldn't have a bat yet you could use a small bowl with some salted water to soften the gauze and gently remove what you can use a hair dryer afterwards to dry instead of a towel. You can ask your doctor about it at your appointment.
I would spray with a wound cleaner something non sting or normal saline. Let it fall off when its wet or gently remove. Have they ever heard of telfa non stick
I’m on day 11 recovery and have seen many people talking about soaking in warm salt water , at the risk of sounding stupid , is this normal table salt in the water ? Or a saline solution ? Thabks in advance
Yes, it is. Commercial physiological saline solution has 0,9% NaCl. The same amount of sodium is circulating in our blood.
You can boil 1 l of tap water and and add around 1 tea spoon of table salt. It has iodine here in Finland too, but amount of it much less than in Betadine 100 mg/ml. Remember, we are not talking about using it for eye or sinuses now.
Hi yes normal table salt is fine in a small bowl have it tasting like seawater and it should be fine. Its a natural disinfectant and it will help with the healing.
