How to eliminate slight fishy odour from Penis

ThrowAwayAccount123 profile image

I’ve been dealing with a fishy odour from my penis for a while now. It used to be really bad, but I’ve started washing it once a day with warm water, and just generally have better hygiene down there, and that’s helped. I’ve even bought creams to help with it, but after a few hours, the smell comes back. How can I prevent this? (I can’t get circumcised at the moment, which may apparently help stop this?) I’d be very grateful for any advice!

You may be better getting checked out by a doctor. There may be something causing the smell. Have you got smegma or any other discharge underneath your foreskin? I’m not circumcised and never had an issue with a smell on my penis. Unless you want to get circumcised then that would be the last thing I would try.

I had a little discharge briefly a few days ago, but that has since cleared up, I’m really not in a position to go to the doctors at the moment. I did test negative for a UTI a while ago

To me it sounds like there may be an infection of some type.

I agree with Hidden that smell and the discharge is a sign of infection - either fungal or bacterial - and you do need to get things medically examined.

Yeah I thought that, but I’ve had the smell for a while now (over 2 months) , I’ve started using a product that is antibacterial and antifungal and I tested negative for a UTI

I mean I do have a pretty bad case of athletes foot and it may have spread to my groin and caused infections

Under your foreskin there is always an oily residue because oils are produced to allow theforeskin to freely slide on the glans. This oil is also incorporated into smegma. Water alone will never remove oil and so you must use some form of soap when washing under your foreskin. If excess oils and/or smegma is retained then nasty odours will follow as bacteria colonise the area.

Maybe you have smegma. Do you pull the skin back when you wash? You may have to rinse and rub off the smegma build-up underneath your skin. Some anti-fungal creams like Clotrimazole, etc can help treat penis with balanitis and similar issues (but not a cure). And change your underwear often also.

Fishy odor comes from breakdown off semen inside your foreskin. Avoid using soap, but di rinse off your bits after ejaculating.Strip down the urethra to clean it all out.
