Recently circumcised!

Hey everyone, just got circumcised four days ago!

Extremely sensitive, glans penis is scaling because of dryness and causing discomfort and little bit of pain.

Waking up on erections every night, and a lot of pain. What can I do to stop erections? I tried using ice, wearing tight clothing.

Is there a medicine to stop erections for a while?

I need some guidance here.

Hey Harry buddy. The pain is unbearable, I know, I got an anxiety and was afraid to go to sleep, so on my 4th day I was taking short naps during the day and forced myself to stay up all night, but the fcking nature and body clock, I got erections the same time as for the previous 3 night (1am, 2am, 2.30am, 5am).

It's important to know that erections can't damage the stitches and it helps if you walk around when erection happens so the blood circulates away.

I got really painful erections 3 times per night. For me erections stopped being painful on day 6, till day 8 they were just slightly uncomfortable (enough to wake me up, but not painful), day 9 to now (I'm currently on day 15) I still wake up with at least 1 nocturnal erection, but that's mainly because I developed bad sleeping pattern due to painful nights over the past 2 weeks. Also I am really horny all the time, so now I'm getting erection even through the day and it's fine.

I wish I could give you advice that works for that, basically all I did is drinking tea only in the morning, drinking only water (sugary juices makes you go to the toilet more), and not drinking after 6pm, sleeping on the side in fetal position.

^ It's a lot, but I'm not sure which of this really helped. It's different from men to men. You got a few more days to figure it out for yourself, but just hang on, it does get better!

Wish you a speedy reovery!

Occasionally a nighttime erection might cause a stitch to break - guys report this - but the wound should still heal.

Thank you so much for your reply, I have been waking up 3-4 times every night because of the pain. I am applying ice around it to help me out and keep the swelling away.It is really hard to cope with the pain when erection occurs! Well as it is very new, guess all I can do is just suck it up!

Thanks anyways.

Yes Harry as Osidge said it can happen, I chose words poorly, it will not happen to the degree that your wound will open or that you will experience major damage. If applying ice works for you than keep doing that, as I said you have more than enough time to figure it out for yourself and find your remedy. I think someone here suggest even meditation or deep breathing technique when erection happen, it's worth to try, what else can you lose when you're up already. Those first days are the worse, it will get better soon 💪

thnx Rockwell7 dear, it’s very assuring! oh and wanted to ask mine’s not stitched, I went through shang’s ring procedure. So every time I get an erection, the skin gets pulled and hurts after I go soft... do you happen to have any opinion on shang’s ring?

in reply toHarry1999

No man, never heard of that. I had my surgery in Croatia where I'm from, basically because of burning feeling after I ejaculated when having sex. I was fine if I was playing solo, but sex was different story. So I went to my doctor with thoughts I am allergic to condoms or something, and my urologist suggested to cut the skin away, also my frenulum was removed, everything stitched up. I know the style I had is called "low and tight", but honestly I didn't ask too much details how they gonna do it or if there is any other way to do it.

I just googled those shang's rings man, do you mind telling a bit more if it's not too personal? Like why you made a decision to get circumcised and did they talk to you about all those options, stitches or rings or maybe did they tell you why they will choose this technique? What's holding your skin together now, do you have bandages?

Sorry for buzzfeed questions mate, I'm really intrigued what's going on with these shang's rings 😀

No that’s alright mate. I certainly do not mind answering you what I can help you with.

I personally think stitches are just too much care, and a little outdated (no intentions to offend anyone), they have a higher chance of getting caught in fabric too, and many other drawbacks...

So, in my understanding shang’s ring method is painless (that what doctors like to say 😂), no bleeding at all, no skin glue either. There are two rings holding your skin together until it heals itself.

I also had pullock method option available, which uses skin glue and heals faster.

But I chose shang’s ring method, as it is more recently introduced method with more successful stories, and mainly because of cosmetic reasons. (shang’s ring method is suppose to give you very good after results)

in reply toHarry1999

Thanks gentleman, that's interesting, funny enough my urologist didn't mention any of these options! How long did your operation take? Mine was around 10-15 minutes.

Yeh I get what you mean, luckily for me my glans was not that much sensitive after the 3rd day, meaning I could touch it, wipe it, clean it, so I am able to take good care of my stitches and dried skin. Probably shang's method reduce the possibility of getting an infection?

I was actually thinking if those rings are still on, don't even want to imagine the feeling of your skin being pulled in that condition! How long did they tell you to keep them on or do you have to go to your doctor to get those rings removed?

Harry1999 profile image
Harry1999 in reply to

The procedure was around 30 minutes max!It does reduces the chances of infection as there are no open wounds exposed to the air, they are enclosed inside the ring.

They usually stay on for around a week, mines gonna stay a little longer, my specialist is not free any time soon! I don’t think we can remove them by ourselves.

Honestly, I had experience with stitches before, it was not the best. And hard to take care of.

This shang’s ring thingy is lesser care!

We all suffered from these painful erections. You will be OK.

Harry1999 in reply toCarl33

thank you, but did your glans penis got really dry and sensitive, and gave you a lot pain. I literally pull chunks of dry skin off it.

Your glans has been covered by foreskin your entire life. Now that they are exposed 24-7 there are going to be very sensitive until they become desensitized. That will be your next step. Very uncomfortable but not as bad as the erections.

Once my stitches desolved, I started massaging coconut on my glans to help with dryness.

Harry1999 profile image
Harry1999 in reply toCarl33

thanx dear, that’s funny I was putting coconut oil on it, it didn’t do much for me, I needed something even thicker so I went with vaseline...how long it usually takes to desesitize?

Carl33 profile image
Carl33 in reply toHarry1999

The coconut oil I applied to prevent dryness of the glans. It took a solid 2-3 weeks to completely desensitize the glans.

Same my friend I’m on day 4 aswell waking up multiple times during the night but my way of dealing with it is simply. Ignoring it and it goes very quick. Getting the op was one of the best things I’ve done but my god I have moments when I wish id never done it

dammn, very true. I was just think today, that why I made decision.and then I am like, I should be fine in a week.

Good to hear from you.

Relief :- I am not alone going through this 😂😂

in reply toTom209football

Easy Tom easy, you made a right decision, keep thinking positive! 😉 I know it's hard right now but you are already half way through your first week, you'll see how much better it is on day 10 and so on. You got this, you'll see how fun this new beast can be 💪

in reply toTom209football

On day 4 as well! We can do this.

I just got circumcised four days ago too! So far, no erections. The shaft below the scar and stitches does sometimes gets hard, but not the head or above the scar. Put ice or just try to think how painful it is. That’s helped me not get aroised. Also, pee and much as you can.

Empty your bladder as much as possible just before you go to bed. Sleep on your side in the fetal position. If/when you wake up with an erection, it usually goes down quickly if you bend over at the waist, then urinate if you have ANY need at all. Sensitivity should decrease when your glans peels.

Thank you 🙏, I will definitely try your suggestion!

Hey Harry hope you heal quickly. Extremely sensitive glans is hard, can't wear underwear and a blanket. For me erection wasn't painful at all, I found that really interesting because i had 30 minutes erection on my 5th day. (maybe different cut). I'm on my 16th day and still have really sensitive glans. I hope you the best.

I’m honestly on Day 9 of healing and I feel every part of these comments. The only issue is cleaning since Im still getting the hang of washing my body first, then cleaning down under due to stitches. The only iffy part is the frenulum and sticking to my clothing. I found out air drying is my way to make sure that *doesn’t* happen every night after showering. You got this: We got this. Message back whenever.

Hey Harry, congrats on getting circumcised, hope you love your new member once it’s healed and ready to go! I’ve read that taking Benadryl before bed is recommended by some doctors here in the US to prevent nighttime erections when you’re healing from circumcision

An ice pack will relieve any unwanted erections during the recovery period. To avoid getting the surgery area too wet wrap the ice pack (or cold item from freezer) in a clean t shirt before applying. It is very soothing.
