I was just circumcised. What should I expect?

I was circumcised 2 days ago. My cut was stitched right behind the head how long does the swelling usually last. How long do I keep bandages? It doesn’t hurt but I do have swelling. What ointment can I use and what is the salt water used for, is it safe?

You need to follow the instructions that you received from your surgeon. I was swollen and bruised up for about two weeks. Didn’t removed my bandage until day 3 which is when I showered. After that, I applied polysporin 3 times a day to prevent infection. I was instructed by my surgeon not to put a bandage on after 3 days. However, many guys do continue bandaging their circumcision.

Best advice is to keep it pointing upwards to enable any build up of fluid around the wound to drain by gravity. That fluid will cause swelling if you just leave it hanging down.I was advised to remove my dressings after 48 hours had elapsed and had no need for any ointment. However I did and still do apply bio oil or moisturiser when it looked dry.

I was circumcised when I was 12 years old and it was done by elders. I removed the bandage the next day and cleaned the wound twice (morning and afternoon). I had a dorsal cut that time and the wound is wide open (no stitches), but I never had swelling because I always put bandage. Not so tight and not so loose. I would say that the healing process is terrible. It took so long for it to be completely healed. Not happy with result because there's more skin covering the glans.

I'm 26 now and I have just undergone a circumcision revision. I was told by the nurse to remove the bandage the next day and clean it twice. She told me not to put any bandages if I will be just staying at home. Which I did. Whenever I go out, I put a bandage on it. One thing I noticed was, swelling goes down when I put a bandage. In connection with my story on the first paragraph, I never had swelling before but the healing time is not acceptable. So, I didn't put any bandages when I'm at home. I didn't mind the swelling because it's just normal. I'm on Day 15 now and it's almost completely healed.
