Post circumcision (19yr old)

Hey y’all- I’ve posted about this before, but I’m still having the same issue. Around 4 months ago I made the decision to get circumcised. I had realized soon after that my penis was not the same size, in fact it was about half it’s normal size. I originally had slightly over 6inches, and now it’s about 3 when erect. I’ve looked it up and this being long term doesn’t seem to be normal. Am I overreacting? Did my surgeon fuck up somehow? It’s gotten to the point that I’m embarrassed and ashamed, and have even had nights where I get really depressed thinking about it (weird. I know. But this is a big deal to me).

Hi, I completely understand why you might be feeling how you describe.

I think you will have read in other men’s posts that healing experiences and timelines vary hugely. Swelling and scarring resolve themselves over time but unfortunately sometimes these can be very extended periods. Both of these issues are reported by other men as having a material impact or real and/or apparent length.

Given that your circumcision was elective, did you discuss style with your surgeon? I was wondering if perhaps the surgeon has given you an overly tight circumcision which is pulling your length back into the pad of flesh/fat at the base of the shaft ? This would have the effect of reducing the measurable length. This situation would be exacerbated if you were carrying a little of extra weight or the skin around your shaft was more loosely attached to your body.

If this is the case, other men on this site have reported that the shaft skin does stretch over time - again time! - to accommodate the full size of your erection.

It would be worthwhile speaking to your surgeon. He/she has an ongoing duty of care to you. Also make sure you challenge him/her if you feel that your concerns are not being given appropriate consideration or attention. An overly tight circumcision with the effects you have described might be considered a failure in exercising this duty of care.

You are relatively young to have undergone this procedure on an elective basis so you might want to consider taking someone along to the meeting with the surgeon to support you.

Thank you for giving me a real and in depth answer. It’s just frustrating ya know? I mean I’m 19 and it’s embarrassing as hell to tell girls that I’ve been with that I used to have an above average dick but now it’s just... not? As far as my surgeon goes I’ve actually tried to contact him 3-4 times and he’s never gotten back to me. I’m seeing a urologist in early December to see if I should be at all concerned.

Hi, very unimpressed that your surgeon has not replied. Which country are you in? There are steps which you can take in most jurisdictions.

I am not the most patient guy so I do get how you feel. Also, I am not circumcised but due to a recent diagnosis of lichen Sclerosus, it is a real possibility for me. My treatment is progressing well and it looks like I am heading to a “cure”, as for me, personally, circumcision is a really challenging proposition. I am English and it is not a common procedure here and, for me, it is not the preferred aesthetic. Nonetheless I have done a lot of reading and research around the procedure and spoken to urologist specialising in the procedure, and whilst it is considered low risk and straightforward, there are clearly a very wide range of healing experiences which I think some surgeons rather underplay!

I’m 6 weeks in and I am smaller as well I haven’t measure just assuming I think like the swelling on the scar line is causing me to get fully expand .hoping in time that will change
