Advice: should I go back to a&e

Had my circumcision done 2 weeks to date and my front sutras came out roughly 3-4 days in and only just pulled it back to see how it’s healing and it looks like this, you think it’ll heal right or need to go back to get sutras put back in?

You are probably too late for resuturing but check with your doctor. This might have been different if dealt with immediately. You cannot really use A &E for something that happened so long ago. It should heal anyway but might take longer and give you a wider scar.

i hope not it doesn't look good at all.. and i didnt realise it was like that til today as didnt want to pull anymore sutras out so left it to heal a little more hoping it would be okay but looking at it i'm not so sure, i'm gonna pop into my local a&e tomorrow morning as better safe than sorry, my local GP has also said over the phone just go in and see what they may say. thanks for the response though

OK. I hope it’s worth the wait. You should ring 111 before going.

What will 111 say as they can’t see the wound? And my GP said to go to a&e?

in reply toTrav97

Calling 111 first is being trialled in some areas as they can advise whether it is an issue for A & E or an Urgent Care Centre. They can also make an appointment for you to avoid a long wait. I hope it goes well for you.

ah right well dont think it is here as doctor said go a&e but thank you anyway p.s never even heard of a "urgent care centre" around here

UTCs are all over the country. Often they are in the same building as A & E. They can deal with some things so that A & E can better deal with emergencies.

ah okay, well i'll go to the a&e reception anyway so surely they'll point me to where i need to go, thank you.

The incision came apart between the inner and outer foreskin. What you see is the tissue under the skin. It’s already started to heal and the penis skin edges can’t be stitched together. The skin edges MAY grow closer together as time goes on, but you will have a wide scar. You can make an appointment with the doctor who circumcised you, just to verify.

Hi Man, it will heal up but just take a bit longer they probably can't restitch it now at this stage it will have to heal with secondary wound healing where it will fill in the gap it's self.

Hi thanks for replying everyone, I’ve been to see my gp today and he’s insisted to go see my surgeon at a&e as it’s time sensitive to see what they can do, if they can’t do anything fingers crossed it heals okay as currently looks an eye sore, thanks for the advice.

Sensible that you see your surgeon. Usually that involves ringing your surgeon’s secretary and making an appointment. I have never heard of using A & E to see a particular surgeon. I hope you are successful.

Hi I saw him this morning, he said there’s not much they can do but to just let it scar over, it’ll be a bump compared to the rest but that’s all they could do as it’s too late for anything else but from the original picture it looks like it’s gone down quite a bit already just will take time to scar now, I can live with that.

I am pleased your mind has been put to rest. Wishing you well on your healing.
