Hey guys, I am two days post operation. I had the operation due to phimosis. I had many many erections over my second night but none were painful thankfully. I don’t have any pain around the stitches or incision area but my glands are very very sensitive. I start work in 5 days so I’m very worried if I’ll be able to handle it by then... I’m having trouble pushing myself through the pain of wearing underwear but I know it’s really the only thing that will help decrease the sensitive over time. I am about to try using castor oil to see if that helps. Any advice?

Glans sensitivity
Firstly if your are very sensitive , avoid wearing tight underwear for at least 2 weeks till you desensitize . Get another week leave or try to wear loose shorts . You can try applying moisturiser to the head to help desensitize e.g petroleum vaseline jelly , any other aqueous non scented non chemical moisturiser . This also takes time and during bathing you might want try to use clean hands to gradually soap(also mild and non chemical based) and cleanse the head . Initially even if it's sensitive it will start to desensitize over time . Don't worry too much and it takes time so just be patient and in my experience the vaseline helped me out. Cheers!
Thanks man! I really appreciate your comment! Unfortunately I don’t think I can take more than a week off of work(but I might have to call in even though I feel bad to)... I was going to try the Vaseline trick tomorrow and also try wearing underwear for the first time! What’s your thought on wrapping the penis during this time? I think the only way I’m going to manage working and being on my feet for 12 hours at a time is by wrapping my penis again... It’s really hard to stay positive during all of this man. I’m very happy with the appearance of everything but am just very down about the fact that I can’t even wear underwear 3 days post surgery...
Yea wrapping it with clean sterile gauze or pads are fine and would help you out but it might not help out with sensitivity . More the contact , more the keratinization and more the desensitized the head becomes. Wrapping the incision site and maybe leaving the glans part out may help you out since you have to work . Vaseline does help alot and results show after a week or so of applying . About being down and not being able to wear an underwear , what you had was an operation however minor . So you do need time to recover and recooperate and you will be back to full functioning capacity sooner than you think. True it takes time and true you might not be able to wear an underwear for some time but this will all be worth it after this is all over . I wore a cotton towel only for an entire week because I wanted to keep the area dry and have constant contact to decrease my sensitivity . Try to think past the temporary downsides and remain positive man. And like what babyblue1 has said , warm baths do help in recovery and desensitising as well so make sure to bath with warm water twice a day. Also if you really can't work , stay home , recover well and get back at it. Don't worry , you will be fine soon . All the best !
Take warm baths and with a cup gently poor water on the glans over and over. You’ll be able to tell it’s working by raising the cup higher and higher as you go (faster water pressure) until it feels uncomfortable. After your shower/bath air dry it either with a hair dryer or just sit under a fan. When you start to feel more comfortable try to touch the glans with the cloth on your boxers. Just gently tap it for a few minutes every day and it'll start to feel less sensitive. After a few days just try to slowly walk around with your boxers on until it feels better.
As for when you go back to work, wrapping it with non stick pads has worked for me. Good luck!
I agree with you on your views and that's sound advice ! But I have to disagree on one point and say that a hair dryer is not a safe modality as it affects spermatogenesis and may affect the testes. So have to very be cautious about the excessive heat. Would go for air drying , towelling it or sitting infront of a fan like you suggested . Cheers ! =)
I'll disagree with others here and say that tight underwear is the way to go.
Any oil/moisturiser may act as a lubricant and increase the sensitivity. As always in these cases do what works for you.
I found tight underwear best as it reduced movement, and movement meant PAIN !
If you use a dressing be sure to use non stick such as melonin.
I did try vaseline but it never really helped. But I do now use cocoa butter to stop the glands drying completely.
Good luck
Thank you all for the advice! I’ve been taking bits and pieces of all this advice! I’m happy to say I’m finally able to wear underwear but I’m still walking very funny as it still hurts a lot! I tried wrapping and that didn’t help much but it might be due to the way I wrapped it... I have work tomorrow night for 13 hours, mostly on my feet so I hope I can handle it
