Hi mate I would give the doc a call today and they will hopefully just stick another stitch in it or glue it. You ideally want that closed as it will heal much better and faster than having it open like that.
already sent an email given that the hospital wouldn't answer my calls, thank you
Best to see an expert obviously. However I had a similar gap although not as long, same position and it healed by itself OK. Over a week or two the gap seemed to shorten and then healed completely and there's now no sign of anything amiss on the scar line. I'm just saying this as reassurance and to allay your fears but everyone's different. Again, please see a medical professional to be sure.
Hi I had this problem but I did go back to doc but they said it was ok and leave it and lucky for me it did so if I was get checked out they are very helpful good luck and take care
Try to see an emergency out of hours doctor if possible, it could get much worse over night - I had the same thing happen with a procedure I had done and they couldn't re-stitch it/wouldn't re-stitch it due to risk of any infection from any bacteria that might have gotten into the open wound.
As Bucky85 mentioned you have wound dehiscence, depending on which doctor you see they may advise you to use what's known as a honey dressing (actilite dressing) + standard sticky-adhesive dressing to hold it in place and to change this every 1-2 days or whenever the dressing comes loose (which it will, I had this problem myself, they're not the most adhesive)
It will heal from the inside out towards the surface and can take upto 4-weeks sometimes longer to fully close up and you may be left with a larger scar or extra swelling, this is of course if they chooes not to re-stitch the wound.
Please call your doctor asap, if more stitches come loose or fall out things could get much worse and be harder to heal/repair.
Hi mate, how did you get on with this? Did you see anyone or did it heal itself? You have a similar cut line to me. I’d be interested to know how things are now. Hope everything is ok.
