About 2 1/2 weeks ago I noticed some discomfort while masturbating and saw that I had a shiny red rash on the underside of my penis head. I googled some things and thought that it could be a friction burn as am a little rough when I masturbate. I tried coconut oil and aloe Vera for a week.
It seemed like it had healed a bit, there was less peeling and discomfort. However, I tried masturbating again, being more gentle and using lubricant and I immediately noticed it flare up and turn red.
At this point I figured that seeing a doctor was a good idea so I went to my local walk in. The doctor was nice but I could tell that this wasn’t her specialty. She didn’t seem too concerned and suggested that it could be a jock itch. She prescribed me an anti fungal cream that I’ve been applying twice a day for the past 5 days. I’m also eating yogurt each morning, taking a garlic and turmeric supplement and drinking two shots of apple cider vinegar a day hoping that it will help fight off the infection.
My only concern now is that she might have misdiagnosed me. After scrolling through more gruesome photos of Balanitis on google than I’d like to admit I stumbled upon a case that looked similar to mine. The boy was 15 and had Zoon’s Balanitis.
I can’t tell my if penis is getting any better with my current treatment. I was wondering if you anyone could help me out and give some advice if they faced a similar issue. I’ve attached some photos below. One showing the flare up and the other is how my penis looks currently.

If the treatment is not working or you are not satisfied with the diagnosis then see another doctor - telling them what you think you have. They may refer you to a dermatologist. No need for a further picture.
Thank you for the response. I’m hoping that I’m way over thinking this and that this will all be gone in a month. The more I look on the internet the more horror stories I read involving incurable conditions, extensive recoveries, etc. I’ll wait until this treatment is over to assess.
A Med Express clinician wouldn’t have the expertise in something like this. Make an appointment with a good urologist or dermatologist and get their expert diagnosis.
Thank you for the response. I think I’m going to set up an appointment soon. I’m just worried to death that this is going to be a pain in the ass to cure.
Next week from today will mark the end of my current two week treatment. If it’s not better by then then I will see a specialist. Hopefully they can accurately diagnose it and treat it. Lately though it has been looking better. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Any update on this? I have exactly the same problem. Red rash/sensitive skin underneath penis head, and it gets worse when I’m erect/after masturbation. Also the meatus of my penis gets red and puffy after masturbation. Been dealing with this for the past year and have seen multiple dermatologists and a urologist who all have no clue. They just say at least it’s nothing serious and don’t really offer any help. I’ve tried a whole gamut of steroid creams, pimecrolimus (Elidel) cream, crisaborole (Eucrisa) ointment, antifungal, etc and nothing seems to work. I even asked the urologist if he could do a biopsy but since my symptoms are really mostly present when I’m aroused or when there is blood flow, he said he couldn’t do a biopsy unless the skin was actively inflamed. If you have any more info to give as to how your condition has changed or if you’ve gotten the right treatment that would be greatly appreciated!
