Hi just an update on my last post I was diagnosed with wet macular and a macular pucker I have had 3 Lucentis injections which havnt worked and my consultant suggested a Ozurdex implant I decided to go privately and get another opinion and was told yesterday that I do not have macular degeneration just the macular pucker I cant believe I put myself through 3 injections and was about to have the implant. Just wondering does anybody have any recommendations for a vitreal surgeon in Manchester the guy I went to see only operates in London.

Can’t find the private message you sent me for the list of questions to ask where do I find them?

Hi Eyesore, along the top of the screen there are some buttons "Home, My Hub, Chat and the notification button" - click on the chat button (the button with the two speech bubbles)

I was also given the wrong AMD diagnose for macular pucker. It's so odd that they keep doing this to people because as far as I know a proper AMD diagnose should at least see some traces of drusen deposits. At least I know that it is possible to mentally prepare for AMD, but of course what a waste of energy.. Not to downplay a macular pucker though, it's not so pleasant for me to not be able to read with my right eye because I'm practically blind in a relatively small center of my vision . Anyway, I'm rambling, good luck with your journey.

Are you going to have surgery for the macular pucker?

They told me that it needs to develop into an actual hole before surgery will be considered.. So when it's as stable as it is right now then it looks like no. Perhaps I should find a second opinion on it anyway. Did they tell you anything about surgery possibilities?

I have AMD and have Eylea injections. I go to the eye clinic at Macclesfield, within easy reach of Manchester, tho' The Macular Society will have the best advice. Macclesfield eye clinic before the Pandemic was always VERY crowded. They followed the ritual of checking with every patient in the clinic if they had given their consent prior to starting the clinic.

To my mind OF COURSE we had given our consent, otherwise why would we be there. That system meant we all arrived at 12.0 noon, and the poor patients at the end of the operating list weren't seen till the end of the surgery i.e. circa 5.15 p.m.. Once we all had to arrive at 4 p.m. and I vividly remember eventually having my injection at 8.15 p.m.. Poor Me.....and what's more, poor staff.

I know I shouldn't say it, but thank God for Covid! They now had to stagger our arrivals.

NOW the system is EXCELLENT. No crowding, no waiting. Things now couldn't be better. I have just had a brilliant completely painless cataract op. I no longer need distance glasses. So now I can/would recommend the Ophthalmic Dept at Macclesfield General. what's more they respond gladly to you if you have legitimate worries. I've been going there for over 3 years now; at first it was a struggle to get my repeat injections on time, but they're fine now Quite WOKE I think the word is. I hope this helps.
