Need advise

Please can someone tell me, do steroids help stop flare ups or are they use just for joint pain.. I be very gratefull if anyone can offer advise me. Thanks x

Steroids reduce the inflammation in the body caused by the auto immune response (body attacking its own tissues). So they do help to stop flare-ups, but depending on the dose you are on and the other things that might cause a flare-up (eg. stress, infections, sun) they might not totally prevent one.

Thank you so much for you answer, l am due a slow release steroid today and was not sure if they helped the flares, If it was solely for joint pain then l would have delayed it, but as l got up today with the start of another flare, l will go and have the injection. are you on joint injestion or oral tablets if the injetion is just into a joint it wont generally stop a flare up in the rest of you body just the joint its injected into. if the injetion is into the muscle your bum or thigh or vien, or if its steroid tables it will work exactly as jude has said. streoids come in lots of forms even nasal sprays but most people on this web page mean tables but you should be careful to clarify what type or you might get the wrong information.

Hi thanks for your reply to my question, the steroids l am on are the slow release injections into the muscle or bum. usually 120 mg of prednisole every 12 weeks, cant take the tablets as my stomach is not very good with the Lupus, Thanks again Merry Xmas x x x x
