Flare Ups

I am 45 years old and have been having a Flare Up for the last 12 months, my blood test showed that my disease is at its highest point.

I am more likely going to have to give up work shortly as my weekly hours have dropped from 40 to 8.

does anyone know how long flare ups can last ???

Sorry to hear you are in a major flare! I think the answer to your question is - how long is a piece of string! And there'll be no point telling you that everyone is different and therefore nobody can actually give you an answer. My bloods always show that I am in a flare - it just varies its strength! I am no longer working in my usual day job but I am doing work from home that I can manage more easily so, chin up and smile if you can. I promise it will make you feel a little bit better. Cheese!

Yes. flares can be difficult to predict, but there are always reasons to be hopefull. I've gone from totally bed ridden, wheelchair bound to reasonably active again thanks to great treatment and a good dose of positive mental attitude. I find having a responsive GP and Reaumatologist helps a great deal. Like you Hesbels, my blood results don't always reflect how I may be feeling. I can be fine, but my ANA is raised and vise versa. I do have the option of giving it a quick zap with extra steriods when necessary, but this is something you would need to discuss, if you haven't already with your Doctor.

So sorry,but no-one can tell how long flares last,i hope you do get through it soon.Try avoiding what will prolong it (difficult with the season we are in).Try to keep well and positive.
