How to make our doctors understand my situation - LUPUS UK
How to make our doctors understand my situation
If you think your doctor has a poor understanding of lupus, we can send them a GP guide to lupus. Just send me their name and the practice address and I can send one out to them.
Mahe............the forst thing you should and have every right to do is CHANGE YOUR DOCTOR!!!!
he has NO RIGHT whatsoever to talk to you in this way, my God things can be difficult enough for all of us without having a so called Doctor who makes you feel like sxxx x
I think that is terrible Mahe.
Many of us feel that doctors do not really understand lupus and we have to learn to stand up for ourselves and not put up with impatience or rudeness. We have such a lot to put up with in the way of unpleasant symptoms as it is. Living with Lupus is very challenging and we need kindness and support from family and the medics. Have you been referred to a rheumatologist who specializes in SLE? If not ask for a referral. I wonder whether you are in the USA and how things work there.
Be strong and believe in yourself so that you can get your needs met.
Big hugs
I suggest you change your GP now! Shouting at someone who you have prescribed anti-depressants for is questionable, maybe it's his own ignorance that makes him so angry.
I have encountered a GP who treated me as a hypochondriac, one who was great and is now bored of me, now I am seeing a new registrar who is delighted at the challenge of finding out everything about lupus, she is wonderful and has helped me immensly.
I can understand people thinking there's nothing wrong, I look in the mirror and have some pretty damning views of myself...then I try and do something normal and...well you know the rest, it's lupus.
Remember though, none of us deserve this, we all deserve a decent quality of life and a GP should support that, if he doesn't then find one that will.
Good luck.
