Hi pollywolly. My husband was just parking the car in a disabled bay, when next to us was an elderly couple in their car scowling at us. The man got out and was approaching us when my husband put the d/badge on the dashboard. He stopped in his tracks. When we left the car we looked back over to see the pair of them scrutinizing our badge to see if it was a real one. And yes people do give us some funny looks I feel like wearing a huge badge saying YES I AM DISABLED.HONEST x x x

Lol I know exactly what your talking about! it's nearly always the elderly that do that to me, if your not old and dont have a wheelchair you should'nt park there! it's driving me mad now, even my local traffic warden's have something to say, I even got called over the tanoy system at Tesco's to move my car, because an elderly woman felt that i wasnt disabled enough to park there! when i got to my car the security man was standing beside it & asked to see my badge, he was slightly embarrassed when i told him to ring the police, some people are just plain ignorant Lucy-may.xx

Isn't it just awful, makes you so so annoyed, I get the same problem. I've had lupus biggest part of my life, over thirty years. & kidney transplant for fifteen of those years You are right its mostly elderley people, they just think they are the only disabled. I've also had a traffic warden question me & they got no right. I just felt so upset as if we lupus patients haven't got enough to deal with. If only they could feel just five minutes of our pain hey ! But then I wouldnt want to wish this illness & all is caused for me on anyone. I really feel you my friends. Anyway try to keep smiling it's great that we can vent our feeling on these things. God Bless you all xx

All the time, I went shopping the other week and when I parked up in the disabled bay and women came over to me and was very abusive....saying things like your too young to be disabled, you don't look ill etc etc....it was quite scary

i've had the same, my rheumatologist told me say 'not all dsability is visable' but at the end of the day people will judge you, you do not owe them an explaination, those that know you and love are all that matter, try to get a thick skin where they are concerned :0) i heard someone once say in response to a barrage of abuse 'what? (looking herself up and down) am i healed? praise the Lord!!' and calmly walked away! not sure i have the courage to do that tho lol!
