I have read here that you can take the flu vaccine if you have lupus, but I did and I was very sick. Is it cause I take methotrexate?

Hi I had my flu jab and I am on Methotrexate and a load of other meds, but everyone with Lupus does not react the same I ahd a very sore arm for a few days and felt a bit tired but I still say the flu vaccine is a personal choice and my choice is to have it, I ahd flu once when I was a healthy bod and I certainly dont want it again

as the other ladies have said, we r all different. Is it your first flu jab? It is probably more 2 do with your BODY'S reaction 2 the jab, rather than the medication.

I have Lupus and on metharaxate. sounds like the jab itself, effects people. whether you have Lupus or not. if your worried, talking to your Rheumatologist :) I got to have 2 jabs done. iv been advised since ive had it, not to have any jabs, but these 2, have got to be done, to ensure it helps. not looking forward to it, but got to be done :)

i had my first flu jab this year, on mycophenolate, mepacrine and plaquinell, left me flat out for 4 days but in my opinion much better than having the flu :)

Last year I was fine after flu jab, but this year I reacted awfully. I came up in a huge rash all over my face that was hot, itchy and inflamed. I vomited, and spent a day in bed. The rash in my face got infected and my eye was swollen, so I'm now on antibiotics. Still shedding skin off my face, but finally almost better after about 10 days.

Thanks for all the answers. I have taken the flu vaccine twice and got sick so I rather be without, but it`s true the real flu is worse.
