You should absolutely have the flu jab - anyone on immunosurpressants is entitled to it. Having Lupus - even if you're not on the drugs yet you should have it....You need all the help you can get not to get other complications with your health.

My GP told me I shouldn't have it because I'm not on any immunosuppressants (only Plaquenil); but he took a long time to think about it.

I think is one of those very tricky questions to answer, on one hand we would all love to say YEAH!! get it but the end responsibility rests with your consultant/gp depending on just how much Lupus affects you will depend on how they decide. If you are someone who has regular or persistant flares or like others have said you are on immunosuppressants then they will more than likely let you have a free jab. On the other hand if you are one of those very very lucky lupies who although diagnosed has not needed medications then they may see you being as high a risk as some of the others on meds. If in doubt talk to your consultant/gp and voice your concerns and they will be able to talk you through what they decide.

Hi Joybell, If you have Lupus you should be considered as a priority in receiving your flu jab. You should talk to your GP about this they should be aware and on the ball. I get the flu jab every year. Hope all goes well.

I have SLE and I have the flu injection every year because I have lupus

If you are on immunosuppr. you should def. have it. BUT only if it is a dead vaccine. Othervise you will ending up getting the flu instead of protecting your self from it. Even if you are not on immunosuppr. you should be able to get it. Due to the compl. a chest infection can cause you because down to our illness SLE.

I have the flu jab and they also stuck me with pneumonia vax this year too. that made me quite poorley but as I've had pneumonia a lot hopefully it'll be worth it.

Yes, I have one every year as Doc says in 'at risk' group. Try again - you know we have to keep being a pain until someone listens. Good luck, I hope u get it. Keep well.

I cannot have the flu jab, as it was this in conjunction with a Hep jab that brought on my Lupus, so I am not allowed any immunisations at all now.

But for most people I believe that the good aspects far out weigh the bad ones.

Go back to you Doctor, tell him how you feel about not having the Flu Jab(I cannot begin to wonder what you would be like if you had the Flu)

You have a depressed imumune system you need protection.

I had a reaction to my 1st jab but have been fine with the jab since.

I shudder at the thought of no flu Jab!!!!
