Yes , foods like celery , parsnips etc do contain psoralins but as long as they're not eaten in excess it isn't enough psoralin 2 cause significant problems .. Just eat these foods in moderation

I don't know the answer to this, but I think you would have to eat loads of it for it to have a significant effect.

I have read that some foods: Alfalfa especially, but also celery, parsnips, parsley, Lemons - can make lupus worse. My personal experience doesn't support this - I love parsley, which contains lots of calcium, and lemons, which are high in vitamin C - and eat loads of these foods. My lupus has got worse over the years, but I couldn't and wouldn't attribute this to parsley or lemons.

Does anyone else have ideas/experience of this?

I did also find this (the journal "Lupus" is a reliable source, but the article is a bit in-conclusive).

I def know about alfalfa, also nightshade plants to be consumed in moderation,on the supplement front.....ive been researching a fantastic area covering systemic candida and its affect on the immune system and how it can cause leaky gut ,therefore particals of undigested food can pass through the gut wall and into the blood stream causing an immune response ,recipe for disaster for people with lupus as we are already on red alert with our immune systems ,also from this report it lead me to a very interesting article on how probiotics (freindly bacteria )can have a negetive affect on lupus sufferers, reason being they can stimulate the immune system and from what i know this is not what we need!and again these freindly bacteria can pass through the gut wall into the blood stream causing havoc with our systems. It seems that that the majority of lupus patients have a candida/yeast problem ,can be caused by weakend immunity or medications. The more i research the more i realise the importance of a healthy gut ,for me im convinced my lupus started from a neglected gluten intolerance which damaged my stomache and put my immune system on red alert, and after years of of red alert a more systemic immune system fault decided to show ,LUPUS!For me im trying to heal my gut as best i can ,so at least my body can absorb the goodness i put in ,i do beleive in genetics in regards to disease but after researching this i also beleive there are many other factors to disease .Hope some of you find this intereseting?keep well guys ,brave;)
