i have lupus SLE and my nethew as autism is this a link.And is any 1 in the same situion at all.

There is not a link between lupus and autism. Lupus affects the immune system and autism is not linked to the immune system xxx

I'm not so sure that there is not a genetic link. My aunt has lupus, I have lupus and my son is autistic. There's not a direct link but in both lupus and autism your genes are affected by environmental triggers. I have no medical knowledge but I've read loads on both subjects.

I don't think enough is known yet about the causes of autism or lupus to rule out a link. I have lupus and my brother is on the autistic spectrum.

I have lupus and my grandson is autistic. I'm not so sure there isn't a link either. No one knows what causes autism, but it may yet turn out to be autuimmune.

I have lupus and my son is autistic, I've heard this question asked before. And also heard mention a possible link between austism and carrying excessive amniotic fluid during the pregnancy, which in my case was also true.

I have lupus and one son has ADHD and the other severely dyslexic. I have never thought of any links. Reading above does make you wonder.

There is no evidence of a link. Scientists have not considered it worthy of an investigation. I think therefore we can assums that statistically there is no correlation between the presence of lupu and autism within families. Of course anecdotally there will be many examples of families where both conditions exist, this is not evidence in itself. I have lupus and there is no autism or dyslexia or ADHE in my family. I am sure many others would say the same..

I have an autoimmune disorder, as does my Aunty. My brother, his two children and my two children are on the autistic spectrum. I really do believe that in my family there is a link.

I don't know if I have lips but have some autoimmune disease ,had endrometrosis,my daughter has endrometrosis and I also think she may has lupus and her son on autism spectrum.never thought it could be linked until now

I think so. I have a suspected auto-immune disorder, my daughter has aspergers and my son has severe autism, golbal development delays and Oppositional Defient Disorder.

Ps. it's not that they think there is some similarity between autism and lupus, it's that lupus and auto-immune problems, may pass on an auto-immune response type disorder to your child, which then affects normal brain development, resulting in ASD of varing degrees. It attacks the delicate tissue surrounding the brain :o(
