dose any 1 take mepacrine 100mg tab twice a week if so what side affects do you get .
I have had no side effects from taking Mepacrine 100mgs a day for several years, (this is an unusually high dosage for the UK), not even any skin yellowing. Initially I found it very stimulating, with vivid dreams and very high levels of energy but this settled down after a week.
Side effects vary from person to person as well as benefits. I found it brilliant taken with Plaquenil.

i take 50mg 3 timess a week, apart from my wee changing colour I didn't notice any side effects at all. I did notice a huge improvement in my joint pain, so i would def recommend it.
I have both Systemic & Discoid Lupus. I take 100mg each day. The only major side effects were bowel problems. I was originally prescribed 200mg a day. That really caused upset tummy to the point of living in the bathroom.
Originally diagnosed with Discoid leisions that lasted nearly 4 months b4 a biopsy was done.
Thus the high original dose.
Am lucky to be under the Lupus Unit at Guys & St Thomas. Right by the London Eye.
However,
My first visit - I was nearlly passed out from heat. The nurse wheeled me outside into the sun !
The unit now has UV Protecting film over its windows etc.
Just shows how little is actually known.
Try not to stress out. Take up meditation or time out for yourself as STRESS seems to be the biggest trigger to a flare-up or "crisis"
