Hi all have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis and finding the tablet Alendronic makes my daily routine suffer for days afterwards. Seems to emphasise my usual Lupus symptoms - fatigue, aches, feeling sick and headaches etc

Am trying my best to get fitter and stronger but again this has knocked me back

How does anyone else cope with this or have you found other ways to manage additional meds!!

Have appointment with doctor soon to discuss

Regards

Hi , I was on Alendronic Acid was diagnosed Osteopenea. I also have Macular degeneration in both my eyes -hereditary. After taking Alendronic for 4 months, I had an eye test which showed changed in my eyes . I took measures to stop it as it was the only new drug that I started in that short space of time to cause such drastic changes in my eyes. I also googled and found that there were reports/research that it causes Macular changes When I saw and read this made a decision to stop this. Hospital is aware of this. I am taking high doses of Calcium and Vit D . You can use VitK supplements to help bind the calcium. That is another option. Most of our foods contain vit K . It is a matter of having enough of it.

I did mention this on one of my other writing not long ago.

Hope you get some where with it.

Also if you are intending to continue find it difficult to swallow your calcium tablets you can get them in dissolvable and the Alendronic do come in liquid , Easy digestible. I find that when I was taking Alendronic yes I did find I was tired and exhausted , and joints did ache more than normal. Also made me much more ill .

Take care x
