hi Dressgirl52, wish I could! I’m sure that like me you looked online & found lots of conflicting info. I enquired at a reputable salon few months ago & was rejected after I filled in their medical assessment form. glad in retrospect as I thought they had a visiting consultant but turns out procedures are done by their salon staff now & reality is they’d be injecting material that can cause inflammatory response into a person with AI disorder - their insurance has to err on side of caution. Too many variables at play to predict outcome as we all have different biology, different forms and degrees of lupus, active vs inactive disease, medications, etc. even healthy people can have adverse reaction. Best approach I think would be to check with your rheumatologist to see if they think it would be appropriate and then find medical practitioner rather than a salon practitioner. More expensive of course, which is why I had to let the idea go. apologies for long reply to your short question, hope I haven’t misunderstood your reason for asking it. All the best x

thanks for this yes have done research but when I went yesterday for a consultation with the salon owner , who is a nurse , she was cautious and asked me to consult . .. I am going to check it out with my consultant tomorrow. I do have Botox and that has been brilliant 🤩. X

Hi dress girl. I’m American our procedures are different. Yes. I have done this last 3 years. I am 66 now. My dermatologist is very experienced and trustworthy so she has done the needlework. I’ve had the normal reactions of bruising/ that’s it. The results are wonderful. Insurance absolutely does not pay for this. We have med spas too and they are popular. I would never go to anyone except a practicing physician.

That’s really encouraging as I keep hitting a brick wall here! The data is so sketchy everyone is cautious about doing it fir me .. the worry that nodules can appear after fillers .. I suffer from facial paniculitus with my lupus which causes nodules so they worry it may trigger it .. I am quite upset about this as I feel fillers works give me a confidence

Hi Dressgirl. I’m not familiar with that type of lupus. Here, an appt with a plastic surgeon is what I would recommend as their experience is notable if good one. Good to tell you yes or no. I use filler for my lips. I’ve not had any problems but I’ve been to the same Derm for 25 years! She knows me she knows my skin and she has other lupus patients. I was scared for years until a few years ago. Can a Dr do a test patch?
