Very lovely. I love to kayak too but ours is very different through the bayous. I can’t go as far by myself or as often. I’m sure you will regain strength to kayak again. Even if it’s a bit different.

It looks lovely, I adore the sea.

This is all a shock for you but please know that you'll become better used to these issues. Often too, these conditions/symptoms come in flares so there are easier times when you'll be able to do much more.

Solbari sell swim cover ups: they are an Australian company so everything is geared around the sun and sun protection. Buy yourself some factor 50 clothing from them, strap on a hat and slap on factor 50 cream and give it a go! You probably won't be kayaking around the whole island but you can have a potter. Just have a go, find out what your limits are rather than deciding things aren't possible. I find that one day I might not be able to walk more than 200 meters but the next I might be able to walk 6 miles. It's all unpredictable which is of course very frustrating.

Beach holidays are the stuff of nightmares for me BUT I love beaches and walk early morning and late afternoon. You're obviously surrounded by accessible beaches so they are available all year long so find times to visit when the sun isn't at it's fiercest. I tend to holiday in the Spring and Autumn when things are calmer. Heat is a bigger problem for me than the sun, much more difficult to avoid.

I've never been to the IOW but it looks lovely. When you're more used to what is happening to you you'll realise stuff will still be possible for you, you've just got to make tweaks to protect yourself.

All good wishes to you.

Thank you for your reply and the great advice.

I am so lucky to live here with everything just a bus ride away. Top deck, peeking over fences and arriving much more relaxed than driving!

Do they do double kayaks? If they do, then someone else can paddle and you sit with your SPF 50 parasol looking all lady like - it'll be just like Pride and Prejudice. Seriously what a gorgeous beach, I wish I lived near one. Spent a lovely holiday there with my late parents and my little brother many years ago, doing all the usual things - popping the coloured sand into glass shapes. My son suffers with mental health issues and we encouraged him to move to Brighton after a miserable time in London. The daily walk on the beach helps him to deal with some of the complications. I always feel better when I've visited him - It's to do with ions I believe. I hope your day is a reasonable one. 🙏❤️

Thank you.

Agreed, the sea air and walking are very good for health especially mental health.

Best wishes to you
