So Excited!

Gynae has finally agreed to give me a hysterectomy after 12 months of badgering my Doc. Funny how being sliced open and having organs removed can make me so happy. Obviously a little apprehensive with it being a major op as it is, especially with the added complications of all my comorbidities but at least it will remove 3 health conditions for me so will be one less thing to worry about. Bring it on!

That's good news for you Sher. Wonder how long you will have to wait for the operation .

Sending gentle hugs,

Jane xx

From the way he was talking I would imagine it will be sooner rather than later as he said "We'll get you in to do a consent form & arrange for you to speak to an anaesthetist" but I stupidly forgot to ask whether he would be doing the surgery or someone else as obviously if it's not him doing it (not really sure if he was just a Consultant or a surgeon), another surgeon may actually think "Hmm, this one looks too risky" 😬. Hope you're doing ok x

Hi I had hysterectomy 2 years ago - it went very well but had to stay in hospital for a week as they had to monitor the lupus x

They have estimated a week for me too but more so because of the APS & EDS. The lupus probably factors in there somewhere aswell, it always does! Did your recovery go smoothly?

Yes my recovery did go smoothly , I had a complete hysterectomy where they took everything away as I had ovarian cancer, I had 2 huge tumours but I was very lucky as the cancer was contained in the tumours and had not spread, I was cut from my belly button down, they glued the incision and the scar now is amazing as you can hardly see it.

It took a good 2 months for me to be back to my usual self as you have to take things slowly. Xx

Good to hear. Mine isn't being done abdominally as I had 3 lots of extensive surgery where they need to cut years ago so they will be doing it lap and vaginally, which I understand should be a quicker recovery. Got my pre-op end of this month so just hoping all goes according to plan 🤞

Hello

I am having hysterectomy 15 December. I too can’t wait! I’ve a fibroid outside the uterus growing next to my bowel so may end up having open surgery but fingers crossed can do it vaginally. I’ve had 2 failed Endometrial ablations. Hopefully will leave my ovaries if no issues when he goes in!

My lupus is mild and I only take hydroxychloroquine. I have thyroid disease and peripheral neuropathy but hopefully won’t cause any issues!

Hopefully you will get a date soon.

Good luck 🍀

Thank you. Mine is due to adenomyosis (hysterectomy is the only option really) but I also have PCOS and scarred fallopian tubes so they are gonna whip the lot out (at my request). Having mine done lap & vaginally as they can't go in through my stomach due to previous surgeries. The only concern is that they'll go in and won't be able to do it if my bowel is positioned oddly (had major bowel surgery almost 30 years ago so it's a bit of a mess in there). Best of luck to you for your surgery & hope the healing is fast :)
