FACE ACHE

Scan says its not SINUSITIS , not a Dental issue , eyes ok, Consultant dosnt think its associated with my Lupus , and yet my cheeks especially the right one puffs up , is painfull and tender.

Cant make my mind up is it BONE OR TISSUE , as I have Fibromyalgia as well as the Lupus .

The only image that showed up on the scan was a tiny stone in the left Salivary gland , but it was the right side that was troubling me !!!!

Been through again the Nausea feeling , dry mouth , weird taste .

Nearly 8 months now and no further forward , think another trip to the GP if I can get an appt!

Any ideas would be welcome

Thanks

That was how I was diagnosed with lupus - constant sinusitis pain in face. ENT consultant said not sinusitis but there was inflammation and he suggested I was tested for SLE I am still treated with antibiotics if I get inflammation and sinusitis pain but since I was put on mycophenolate this is not very often!. Maybe antibiotic’s will clear it if the doctor will prescribe? Good luck

I was the same as Kelbol, main initial symptom for me 35 years ago when I was diagnosed. Even the same as you right down to the stone in saliva gland! It took 2 years for my GP to come up with lupus, which I'd never heard of then

I do still have sinusitis regularly. I am now also diagnosed with Sjogrens secondary to lupus so get dry mouth , eyes etc and sore mouth on almost daily basis along with CKD. You may have looked up Sjogrens and CKD but if not do, one of those may be your answer. Good luck.

Could this be your Parotid gland? I suffer with this gland swelling and it gets very painful, not being able to eat either.

do you sleep on that side of your face or on your side or stomach?

You can get nerve pain in the face, especially if you are sleeping in a position that cricks your neck and pinches a nerve that runs into your face. Once that nerve gets irritated, it can take a long time to settle down.

I was having problems with this and had to switch pillows so that the nerve wouldn't be pinched by how I slept. It took a while, but it did calm down once I corrected my sleeping position.

Hi there TGSHJ71,

Apologies for the delayed response and that this issue has been ongoing for you!

Did you manage to get an appointment with your GP to investigate this further?

Warm regards,

Michaella

Good morning from Missouri!

I was reading through some of my old emails and came across your condition. I too have Lupus and also Sjogren's. I wanted to offer from experience, something that took me a while to realize. On average, I suffer

with two migraines a month. The first day is usually the headache (mostly ocular). I realized on the 2nd day, the same side I was attacked, my face will hurt to touch.

Food for thought. I hope you're doing better.

Wishing you a great week from Kansas City,

Tessie62
